Centos 7 on Dell Latitude E6500
Hi,
I tried to install Centos7 x86_64 minimal 1503-01 from an USB
flash drive on my old Dell Latitude E6500 laptop.
boots up in text mode, switches text resolution, writes:
Started Show Plymouth Boot Screen
Reached Target Paths
Reached Target Basic System.
then hangs for some time, eventually starting dracut emergency
shell. log says:

Question about curve function
Dear Sirs,
I am a new user of the R package. When I try to use the curve function it
confuses me.
> curve(x^2)
Works fine.
> curve(x)
Makes a complaint I don't understand. Why is x^2 valid and x is not?
I check the documentation of curve, and it says the first argument must be
an expression containing x.
> expression(x)
Is an expression containing x.

Centos8.1 Plymouthd crash 913: ply_event_loop_watch_for_timeout: Assertion `seconds > 0.0' failed.
Hi,
I?m running a special initrd generated for SystemImager with a special dracut module that relies on plyouth scripted theme.
It works perfectly on CentOS-6, CentOS-7, OpenSUSE-42.3, Fedora-29 (not tested later) and used to work on CentOS-8.0
Since CentOS-8.1 was released, IT chrashes with the following error:

Thats 'plymouth', specifically the text theme. Looking at the
plymouth source, it uses /etc/system-release by default (and it looks
for /etc/os-release too, but I think that's not something in
CentOS6.

I am not sure what you mean with sysvinit ? If this is the old boot method,
then I wonder why we should spend here as that things are now run by systemd.
If you are talking about enhancing the full boot experience and

nMDS with R: missing values
I'm not sure how you are incorporating time period into your data structure. Typically we are looking at plots or assemblages as the rows and taxa as the columns. Time period adds a third dimension that could be added as blocks of rows. For example, depending on the resolution of your data, one approach would be to have up to 8 rows for each locality: Loc1.1000, Loc1.2000, . . . Loc1.8000. If

plymouth themes problem
Hi all!
I was playing with plymouth themes on a c7 box. I found a page on
redhat, in their rhel7 documentation that describes how to change to
a different plymouth screen:
plymouth-set-default-theme --list
to find out what themes are installed.
then I installed the remaining bunch the yum had available.
so then installing one by doing
plymouth-set-default-theme <theme name>

Cron - log when job ends?
Hello,
In trying to resolve a problem with a cron job, we can see when the job starts
by looking in the /var/log/cron log file. However, I was asked if when the job
ends could also be logged. (It seems to be something that crops up every so
often over the years.)
I found on the 'net this article

WinXP - Can Join 2.2.2 domain - Not log on
I have read through the mail archives to find a solution to my problem...
to no avail. Here is the issue:
I have a Samba 2.2.2 acting as a PDC, with Win2k I can join the domain
and logon as a domain user. No problem. (So it is working and set up
properly).
With WinXP - Pro, I can join the domain, successfully. However, once I
do the reboot I cannot logon as a domain user as I did with
