I've added debugging command-line parameters to the kernel command line, per
skeggsb and imirkin on #nouveau.
root at joyful:~# cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-5.3.0-26-generic root=/dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root ro quiet
splash log_buf_len=8M nouveau.debug=disp=trace,bios=trace,i2c=trace 3
On this particular run, closing the lid and then opening got me back to the
console, but then I

CentOS 7 + KDE: sleep mode?
Hi,
One of my clients is running CentOS 7 + KDE 4.14 which I installed for
her. Everything is running nicely. She asked me - more out of curiosity
- if she could use the "Sleep" mode instead of "Shutdown" like she did
when she ran Windows, so the PC would be up and running faster the next
time. I didn't know what to answer, since I don't explicitly use this
mode. Only

With C7 that is caused by systemd.
Somewhere in /etc/systemd/logind.conf

Just curious if any of the recent fixes have addressed this. :)

Display broken after resume from suspend
Hi Joshua,
Not a fix for your issue, but Ben noticed this (and fixed it):
https://github.com/skeggsb/nouveau/commit/024bda7d2b0c3b0731433d60a494c78ab58cb216
which is what causes us to even try 540MB/s link training. However
with this fix applied, it'll just give up faster. I'm told eDP is
generally a single lane, and you're trying to get more than 270MB/s.
So ... the question is ...

Preventing laptop from sleeping when lid closed?
How can I prevent the laptop from sleeping when the lid is closed. I tried
messing with the settings in gnome-power-preferences but that doesn't seem
to prevent it when no one is logged in. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

OpenSSH is not asking for passwords.
I am trying to use shfs to mount a remote root filesystem for a
diskless workstation. The system downloads its kernel and initrd from
a server. I have tried repeatedly to get a working installation of ssh
on the initrd with no success. I finally got ssh to connect to the
server.
Normally when I use ssh the session goes as follows
[arrummzen at localhost LFS-BOOK-6.0-HTML]$ ssh 192.168.11.10 -l

Tap'Touche 5 : keyboard issue
Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu 'Jaunty' and wine-1.0.1 (.deb package provided by Kubuntu).
I would like to learn how to type quickly on a keybord thanks to "Tap'Touche" (a French typewriting software) but it claims that some keys on the keybord are unavailable and so I could not do some exercices.
The following lines appeared (duplicated lines removed) :

Bugs with ovirt-awake
The ovirt-awake script is no more in the path, only in /etc/init.d/ so the
ovirt script return a command not found.
I did little dirty fix in /etc/init.d/ovirt :

[PATCH: ovirt-identify-node replacement 0/4] ovirt node patch to replace ovirt-identify-node with matahari qmf agent
The purpose of this patch is to add support for the matahari qmf agent
package (http://git.et.redhat.com/?p=matahari.git;a=summary) to the node.
The following actions are taken:
1. Deprecate ovirt-identify-node and ovirt-listen-awake by removing
them from the autotools scripts, the rpm spec and the node startup scripts.
2. Remove ovirt-listen-awake and ovirt-identify-node completely.
3. Add

[PATCH: node 0/3] replace ovirt-identify-node with matahari
This patchset removes ovirt-identify-node and ovirt-listen awake.
It adds startup script support for the matahari qmf agent, which takes
over the responsibility for communicating node hardware capabilities
to the ovirt-server.
On the server side, host-browser has had its node identification
functionality replaced by a new script, host-register, which is what
interfaces with the matahari qmf agent
