I redirected all my errors to /var/log/messages, so here's what I get when I try to connect Filezilla to that server. Masquerading (packet forwarding) on CentOS 7
Hi, I just migrated my office's server from Slackware64 14.1 to CentOS 7. So far everything's running fine, I just have a few minor details to work out. I removed the firewalld package and replaced it by a simple Iptables script: --8<---------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh # # firewall-lan.sh IPT=$(which iptables) MOD=$(which modprobe) SYS=$(which sysctl)

No network on cloned CentOS 7 installation
Hi, I have a few identical Dell Optiplex 7010 machines that I want to use for our school's computer room. I tried to clone these installations (like I did before on CentOS 5 and various versions of Slackware), but this time I ran into a problem. Here's what I did. 1. Install one computer and zero unused hard disk sectors with dd. 2. Send the image to a local FTP server using G4L

Clone a custom CentOS 7 desktop using G4L over FTP
Hi, A couple months ago, I migrated our local school (two servers, 20 desktop clients) from Slackware 14.1 to CentOS 7. The desktop clients are running a customized lightweight desktop based on Xfce: https://blog.microlinux.fr/poste-de-travail-xfce-centos-7/ Home directories are all on the server, and authentication is centralized. Everything works fine so far. With Slackware I had found a

Squid vs. iptables redirection: exception for certain domains ?
Hi, I'm currently facing a quite tricky problem. Here goes. I have setup Squid as a transparent HTTP+HTTPS proxy in my local network. All web traffic gets handed over to Squid by an iptables script on the server. Here's the relevant section in /etc/squid/squid.conf: --8<------------------------------------------------------------- # Ports du proxy http_port 3130 http_port 3128

wu-ftpd, proftpd, or vsftpd!
I have tried to configure an ftp server on one of my machines, I want to all authenticated users to be able to upload files to the apache web root /var/www/html. VSFTPD passive mode is not working
I have Centos 5.7 64bit; I have installed vsftpd as standalone service and using it for two years now with no problem. Suddenly; only it works with active mode. The passive mode stops working and gives time out. Firewall is disabled and SELinux is set to permissive. I ran tcpdump and I noticed that only first three packets reached the FTP for passive mode and no more packets on other ports #

Squid vs. iptables redirection: exception for certain domains ?
Hi, Another idea - but this gets complicated and with that, prone to faults - use a simple shell script to resolve the desired domains and keep their IPs in an ipset, then use the ipset in your firewall rules, this way you can keep your iptables rules static, your squid config static and simply add or remove IPs from the ipset. -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! VSFTP/MySQL
Hi guys, Just a quick question, I've been slowly moving all my user services to mysql backend, I realise it's probably not as good a choice as LDAP, but you tend to stick with what you know. To that end I want to setup both Apache and VSFTP to use mysql db for virtual users. Basically I want to create virtual users that are locked into their own home dir and have apache use mysql to
