According to the man page for wodim - formatting is not

Hi,
i am upstream developer of libburn. Nevertheless, the following is intended
to be purely technical info, not advertising.
Better do not use wodim with DVD media. It was forked from a CD-only
version of cdrecord and got added not-so-skilled code for operating DVD.
One should use dvd+rw-tools or a program that has libburn as backend.
I am not aware whether cdrecord is meanwhile willing to

It is not an assumption. OP has Re-Write (RW) disks.

Sounds like a growisofs problem.
If it was with unformatted DVD-R or DVD-RW media, does it resemble this
error ?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810483
Any message from the failed program run might help to diagnose the problem.
Have a nice day :)

resource busy
How do I find whatever it is that wodim or
readom thinks is using /dev/sr0 and kill it?
So far, reboot is the only solution I've found that works.
I don't like it.
I want to be able to use my DVD-burner more than once without rebooting.
lsof has not helped.

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under
CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had
some success, in fact most of this usually works.
I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly
well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when
it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but

CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD doesn't boot
Hi Everyone,
I downloaded the CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD ISOs and burned the first image to
a rewritable DVD. When I tried to boot my new home server off it, it
didn't, and then this was printed to the screen:
ETCDisolinux: Found something at drive = EF
No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
boot:
The same disc works fine in my 4 year old HP laptop, and when installing
CentOS 6 as a KVM.

k3b -> cddb doesn't work
Copying a CD with k3b is no problem, except I want to include on my copy
the cbbd data (from freedb.org). I've configured k3b's cddb section
according to instructions at <http://www.freedb.org/en/faq.3.html#15>
and read every article google could find about "k3b cddb freedb.org
config", but still k3b can't manage it. Grip handles getting the cddb
data just fine.

CentOS-7-x86_64-dvd-2009.iso is too big for DVD blanks
I need help from someone experienced with the CentOS bug tracking
system. I gotta say it is one of the most complicated and imposing
front ends I've ever seen. Could anyone familiar with it please file a
bug on my behalf? Particulars:
"CentOS 7.9.2009 DVD iso image too large"

Much to my surprise, I found this:

nameserver 2001:48f8:3004:2ce:5a19:f8ff:fe9e:a4bc
I doubt it's the source of my problems,
but the second line looks like something midco did to

printer only prints one page, if anything
I've got a Brother HL-L2360D series printer connected to Centos 7.
CUPS lists it as Generic PCL6/PCL Printer - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9 .
When I tell it to print a pdf file, it prints at most the first page.
After powering the thing off and turning it on again,
it printed page 3 of pages 3-6 .
On trying it again, the thing claimed it was receiving data
and printed page 3 of pages 3-6 again.

CentOS 6.0 i386 DVD
Anybody have tricks to write the i386 ISO image to DVD?
I've tried DVD+-RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-R in both Windows 7 (two
different writers) and rebooted into CentOS 6 (x86_64) and tried
cdrecord (now called wodim). On wodim I've tried overburn, reducing
speeds, etc.
All give the same results: the same number of bytes are written -
indicating the disc is full (according to my calculations)

how do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
How do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
I have a Samsung phone I bought at a Walmart.
According the the front, it worships Verizon.
Beyond that, I'm not at all sure what kind.
If I use a real USB connector to connect it to my PC,
CentOS sees it as a character special device.
What, if anything, I can do with that device, I do not know.
I've not found any settings related to USB.

HP USB printer accepts jobs, but won't print
My HP USB C3180 All-in-one printer accepts jobs, but does not print.
A job simply sits in the queue.
I haven't used it on this computer for a while.
It will print a test page when I connect it.
The last line from hp-info -i
is
04/07/17 13:26:21 5012 Device communication error hennebry 0
(I've removed some blanks.)
Any ideas on how to diagnose this?
