SquidGuard update in EPEL
Hi,
The SquidGuard URL redirector has recently been updated in EPEL, and I'm
a bit puzzled. I'm still using SquidGuard on a few local proxy servers
running CentOS 7, because it's a nifty piece of software for filtering
web traffic.
The project's home page has remained unchanged for more than ten years:

It looks like the project has been dormant or

Now I'm even more puzzled.
Fedora and EPEL sport SquidGuard 1.4.36.
Now when you search for "squidguard", this seems to be the project site:

No, there isn't.
I was just puzzled that there was an update to an application that's
been manifestly dormant for more than ten years.

Define HTTP proxy system-wide (Squid and Squidguard) ?
Hi,
I'm currently configuring Squid and Squidguard for filtering web access
in a public computer room. So far, everything works fine.
I know how to configure Firefox to use a proxy, but there's no way to
protect that configuration, e. g. a more knowledgeable user might
circumvent this configuration. Is there some way to configure an HTTP
proxy system-wide?
Cheers from the sunny

Erratic local hostname resolution with Dnsmasq
Hi,
My local server is running CentOS 7. The machine has two NICs and is
acting as a gateway. For DHCP and DNS, I'm using Dnsmasq. I have a
strange little problem with local hostname resolution. Before going into
more details, here's my configuration.

The law in France (Code P?nal, article 227-24) states that a public
network is not allowed to broadcast messages containing violence,
pornography or any content contrary to basic human dignity, which is
theoretically punishable with three years of prison or a 75.000 ? fee.
So any network

Running Shorewall with Squidguard on same machine
Hi,
I''m trying to get Shorewall to work with Squidguard on a machine which
is acting as the fileserver, firewall, proxy server and internet access
point for a small network. The network at present consists of the
fileserver/firewall machine running RH 8.0, two Linux boxes running
various RH distributions and two windows virtual machines running on the
other machines under Win4Lin.

SquidGuard
Hi list,
Has anyone here use SquidGuard for their Squid proxy
running in CentOS4.4 to block list of bad sites? Is
the RPM available using yum? Any feedback using this
software appreciated. Thank you very much.

And this all begs the question: who's flying this plane? According to
the official website, SquidGuard is dead in the water. Apparently
there's still some mysterious maintainer around. Which would be nice,

Postfix, system notifications and local servers
Hi,
I have CentOS 7 running on half a dozen public servers. For some stuff
like automatic updates using yum-cron, I have Postfix installed with a
relatively basic configuration. This allows me to send important
notifications to my mail address info at microlinux.fr. When there's a
batch of updates, I get one mail per machine, so I can check quickly if
everything went OK without having to

Block internet access for some users on the LAN ?
Hi,
In our local school we have two servers and roughly 80 clients. The
network is 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0, and DHCP+DNS is managed by Dnsmasq.
School PCs (teachers and management) are registered via MAC address and
get an IP address in a specific range:
192.168.10.2 - 192.168.10.50 - management + teachers
192.168.10.201 - 192.168.10.220 - computer room
