CentOS-4 i386 errata: Configuration change for
centos-yumconf has been updated to include (but disable) all optional centos repositories. This would allow a user to update / install from an optional repository without needing to modify the configuration files. Example: If you wanted to install a package named foo from the optional repositry named centosplus, you would use the following command: yum --enablerepo=centosplus install foo see

Can't find repository for centosplus
While trying to get my SD card reader to work with CentOS, it was recommended to me that I update to the centosplus kernel. I attempted to do so using yum, as was recommended, but I encountered the following error: [root at localhost ~]# yum --enablerepo=centosplus update kernel Repository update already added, not adding again Error getting repository data for centosplus, repository not

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all. I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed. Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now? Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry it's a little bit long: [root at karsites ~]# yum --enablerepo '*' --disablerepo

Building a C5 chroot on a C6 machine
I'm trying to do something slightly silly; rather than having a C5 machine and a C6 machine around for compiling and testing, I want to create a C5 chroot area. Something similar to "mock" but using lvm snapshots and some local config specific stuff. (Potentially even using Linux Containers to enter the chroot environment). So I thought I'd build out the chroot... % cat

I had the same problem going to 6.8. In my case the problem stemmed from the fact that my machine has a MACH64 video card. The updated Xorg has a reference xf86LinearVidMem. I

installer with centosplus kernel?
Hi all, Is there any way to get a CentOS 7 ISO with the centosplus kernel? I have some very old hardware I'd like to keep going if easy, but it has old NVidia network cards that need the forcedeth driver. Apparently this driver is now in the centosplus kernel, but if I use the default ISO I won't be able to get on the network to get the centosplus kernel. (Of course I can get the kernel

centosplus + priority plugin
I have a Centos 4 box that has been updated all the way to 4.6 without using the centosplus repository. Now I want to use the centosplus repository for Centos 4 to get the latest LAMP, mod_perl, perl and other perl modules so that I can install rt 3.6.6 and its necessary modules. However, for some reason, the latest perl package in the centosplus repository does not appear on the radar when

Problems installing packages from the CD
So I did a minimal install of centos 7 vm guest just to find out it did not install perl. Since as of right now I have no properly functioning network on that machine (different issue; we can talk about that in another post), I went for the next best thing: install CD. I grabbed the CentOS-7-x86_64-Everything-1611.iso CD (around 8GB), attached it to the guest, and mounted it on /mnt. Then I

yum 2.4 for CentOS-3 i386/x86_64 (CENTOSPLUS only)
Hi, yum-2.4 and required dependancies for CentOS-3 are now available for i386 and x86_64 in the centosplus repository. The default version still is 2.0, nothing changes for those who don't want/need the new features (for example: fastestmirror, priorities and protectbase). For those who don't want to update to yum-2.4 but still use the centosplus repository, add to your /etc/yum.conf
