yum repository and createrepo
I've setup a local yum repository for about 25 workstations and I'm
using rsync from a local mirror. Do I need to create my own XML
headers, i.e. the 'repodata' directory, or since I'm syncing the whole
updates directory can I use the 'repodata' directory from the mirror?
I also have a question on using createrepo. The directory layout is:

Yum Mirror Errors
While attempting to grab some packages from the repos I've been getting
a lot of mirror errors. Anyone have any idea why?
I've recently updated from CentOS 5 Beta2 to the final version and it
went flawlessly. The first thing I did though was to update the
centos-release packages per a previous post. I was under the impression
this would take care of repo problems. Was I incorrect?

Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi:
I have a mirror of dag repository
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used
by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote
server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit
with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error:
#yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios

OT: Local Mirror problems, wrong paths to RPMs with yum update
This week I set up a local mirror for a few dists, including Centos 4.0
and 4.2, and Fedora Core 3 and 4. I'm using a script called yum-pull.
For the most part I really like the script, it automates the setup of
your mirrors and tries a bunch of different mirrors when it goes out to
get updates, if it fails on one it tries another. It uses the usual
suspects, createrepo and repoview, among

The repodata directory is currently broken on several, if not all, mirrors for the 6.5 iso files
The repodata directory on all 6.5 isos that I have sampled have an issue where the file names don't have extensions resulting in a yum repo error on installation just after disk partitioning. This error prompts you with the choice between either allowing you choose another repo or to exit the installer. I remedied this issue with the following:

yum can't connect to mirrors
Hello,
I added rpmforge yum repo to my yum config and then the box couldn't
connect to fetch updates. I added enabled=0 to rpmforge.repo as well as
add-ons, contrib, and centosplus, but i'm still getting mirror errors. I
believe i've got some file corruption somewhere, but i don't see where. I
can't even fetch packages in updates now, keep getting connection refused

my local mirror stopped working
Hey folks,
I've had a local mirror set up for some time now and it has always
worked, but suddently stopped. I don't think the fact that it
stopped work has anything to do with when I blew away that machine and
changed it from Centos 5.3 to a Fedora Core 11 box. But I'm not sure
how that could make any difference since it is just serving that stuff
over the web. It still works

ERROR during HTTP install from a Centos mirror
Hi!
I'm trying to install centos 5.1 as a http installation from a centos
mirror.
i've done it before with Fedora, figured I could do it with Centos, too,
but every time I try it, it goes all the way thru Anaconda to the point
of entering the root password, then I get an error about not being
able to find the repodata.
I note that the section in the "upstream" manuals about

[OT] Concept: RepoDELTA (simple createrepo hack)
I'm not on the YUM lists, so I'll post this here in the hope
it will make someone happy. I'll forward the concept to Seth
for consideration (if he doesn't see it here). This is a
simple "createrepo" hack that would require corresponding
support in the "yum" binary as well. I'm not sure this would
work, but it's just an idea I figure I might as well
