Network services start before network is up since migrating to 7.2
Hello all, I updated two of my servers to CentOS 7.2 (1511) two days ago, and since, on one of them, the network services are started (and fail to start) before the network interfaces are online. Parts of "journalctl" after the last reboot : d?c. 17 10:21:44 myserver kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 40 d?c. 17 10:21:45 myserver sshd[700]: error: Bind to port 22 on

firewalld being stupid
Greetings, One of my biggest frustrations with CentOS 7 has been firewalld. Essentially all of the documentation just flat doesn't work. One common thing that needs to be done is to change the zone of an interface, however I've tried: firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=internal --change-interface=ens192 firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=internal --add-interface=ens192 I've also tried

Network services start before network is up since migrating to 7.2
Hello James, > Well it looks like you are using the network service rather than the > recommended NetworkManager ... Yes. That's the way our security experts made the models I use to setup my servers. I'll test a migration to NetworkManager, and take their advice on it. > > The network service is not blocking the flow so it executes and systemd > carries on ... >

IP aliases for services (including dhcpd)?
I'd like to consolidate the services from several old servers onto 2 CentOS7 VMs that are currently running dhcpd in a balanced/failover configuration. It will simplify things to add the IPs from the old servers as aliases, at least temporarily so everything will continue to connect without changes. However, after adding the first one, I see in the logs that DHCPD is sending its DHCPACKs

firewalld rule syntax
I'm still learning firewalld obviously, and I am having trouble groking the documentation to understand how to do this. I know I could do an iptables direct, but that doesn't seem like the "right" way to do it. What I'm trying to do is allow a specific service, only for a specific ip. Effectively, SNMP should be allowed form a specific IP address (the systems monitor).

bad udp cksum
Hi, Recently I'm noticing an interesting issue. My CentOS servers are trying to send logs to a logging server via 514/udp, however I'm not receiving anything. I did the following on CentOS *tcpdump -vvv -nn udp -i esn160 port 514* In another session on the same server: *nc syslog-server -u 514* tcpdump started to show me messages like: *[bad udp cksum 0x3ce9 -> 0xb0f5!] SYSLOG,

Reverse DNS
Hi Rowland, Just as a test, I installed the dhcp server in the DC ( in the lab). Then configured the dhcp as per the wiki This is what I see. enp0s25 disconnect
I tried to boot a Centos 8.2 install CD, one burned with Centos-8-2-2004-x86_64-boot . In the setup, it persisted in telling me that ethernet thing enp0s25 was disconnected. Nyet. 'Twas working several seconds previous and is working now. This is a showstopper. How do I debug it? Also, whatever else it did, I now have environment variable

Persisting Routes In A Routing Table Other Than The Default
I need to add persistent routes to a policy routing table. I can add rules to an IP policy table after installing NetworkManager-config- routing-rules; but I have not found how to add routes to a table other than the specific table. Manually I do a: ip route add default via 192.168.1.6 dev ens192 table pods Rules load automatically via the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rules- {interface}

Having icecast SSL connection problem
I have been trying to get icecast 2.4.2 to stream with ssl to https. But so far I have had no luck. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 and the regular stream is working properly over port 80. I want to stream securely over port 443. I need to use 443 because of network rules here. I can view the Icecast2 Status pages and listen to a stream, but once I add https:// I get 'Secure Connection Failed'

Problem with SPNEGO on full trust 2016 DC <> Samba 4.10.7 AD
I've read the documentation that domain trusts should be fully supported with both Kerberos and NTLM authentication. I've created a new 2016 domain on a Windows box and created a Samba domain on a Linux box with a BIND9_DLZ backend. Both servers can resolve both DNS domains forwards and backwards and I am able to connect a Windows 10 client to the Samba domain without any issues. The

security = ads parameter not working in samba 4.9.5
Lets start by removing this: krb5-server-1.15.1-37.el7_7.2.x86_64 And if it is installed on the DCs remove it from them as well. Not sure if I asked this, but where did you get the Samba packages from ? Can I also point out, when I ask for the output of the script in a post here, I mean here, not somewhere on the internet that can and will disappear. If needed, I can then review the output
