Yum cannot download from local repository
I have set up a local filesystem repo thus: # cat /etc/yum.repos.d/LocalFiles.repo # LocalFiles.repo # # This repo is used with rpms contained in a local filesystem repo # created with createrepo. local yum repository
bit off topic, but.... I've set up my first Centos gateway server and now setting up another server on internal network. I thought it would be nice to use the gateway servers "/var/cache/yum" as a local repository for any internal servers since it would be up to date with the lastest packages and save bandwidth. So... ctv, install.views, install.packages (& update.packages)
Dear all, Wouldn't it be helpful if the install.views install.packages update.packages had a "downloadonly=TRUE" flag which would allow us to download the packages and install them later (or put them in a USB stick and take them for installation on anothe PC). I am behind a firewall (Bank) and I have serious plroblem updating R or installing views (Finance, Econometrics etc.

Managing Yum repositories
I''m trying to use Puppet 0.19.3 to manage Yum repositories, using the ''yumrepo'' type. Our repository configuration files currently have a line baseurl=file:///net/yum/CentOS4.1/$basearch/ where "$basearch" gets interpreted by ''yum''. I''ve tried the line baseurl => "file:///net/yum/CentOS4.1/$basearch/" in my

After doing this, I ran a yum update and received the following warning in the output along with the updates available: Not using downloaded repomd.xml because it is older than what we have: Current : Thu May 7 14:41:57 2009 Downloaded:

yum fails in FIPS mode
I guess my Google-fu wasn't up to this one! I have a system running CentOS 5.9 32-bit running in FIPS mode that I would like to update. Unfortunately, it fails when attempting to run "yum update". I've disabled all the repositories except for base and updates and still get the same issue, an error carping about an algorithm forbidden by FIPS. Here's what I see: >

Force package install using yum?
Hi Everyone, I have a CentOS 7 box that's refusing a rpm update. I suspect it has something to do with SCL enabled. The 'yum update' output is shown below. I need to force this package to install. I don't give a damn about the log files. I need that server patched since it is forward facing. Taking the server offline is not an option. How do I force the package installation?
