I searched some more and I *think* I found a bit of valuable
information. The problem seems to come from the cdlabelgen backend. As
far as I can tell, it uses the

Since you say this worked before, can you inspect one of the pdf files that was created when it was working and see what font(s) it's trying to use?

I did some more research, and it looks like the problem is NOT related
to missing fonts.
I installed a vanilla CentOS 7 desktop, activated EPEL, installed
cdlabelgen, downloaded Gtkcdlabel,

I guess the next step would be to either find and install the missing fonts, or re-write template.ps to use the fonts that you have available.

postscript problem
hello all,
when trying to produce a plot with the following code
postscript("g6-5000-0705-b.ps")
par(mfrow=c(4,1))
for (i in 1:4) {
somc<-cumsum(betaC[,i])/c(1:N)
plot(somc,ylim=c(min(somc),max(somc)));
}
dev.off()
I get a postscript file g6-5000-0705-b.ps, but if I try to open it
with ghostscript, or to convert it to pdf, I get the following error :

ghostscript errors
gday R friends,
Since I had random errors with ghostscript 6.01 I thought I'd upgrade.
After upgrading to gs6.5 I've had problems. Originally, gs failed
complaining about lack of "__sysconf" in glibc2.2 so I upgraded glibc. Now I
get this. Note that it used to work with gs6.01.
I realise this is probably a ghostscript problem but you never know...
thanks,

Requirements for building source RPM's?
Hi,
I have CentOS 4.3. On install, I chose the 'Personal Desktop' option without
bothering about customizing. I'm on dialup, so I try to choose a mixture of rpm
and yum, e. g. I do 'yum install something', take a peek at what is needed, and
then install as much as I can from the CD's using rpm -ivh.
I want to build an app (cdlabelgen and its frontend gtkcdlabel) from a

Invalid font in bitmap()
Dear all,
A few weeks ago I asked about X11() availability using CGI-perl. The
general advice was to use bitmap which requires ghostscript (Xvnc and
Xvbf were the other alternatives). My system administrator got around to
installing Aladin Ghostscript 6.0 and the setting the R_GSCMD
environment variable. Other system specification is given below.
But now I have a new problem that says that font

ghostscript 8.64 errors.
Hello,
To fix some issues in working with gs 8.63 I had to upgrade to 8.64. I build the rpm from ghostscript-8.64-9.fc11.src.rpm. I get the following error when running

Setting a different LANG variable for a single GTK application?
Hi,
I just installed GtkCDLabel, a nifty little app to create CD covers in a matter
of minutes, if not seconds, and which I've been using on a daily basis on
Slackware (previous system).
I've encountered some encoding issues. Whenever my CD text contains french
special characters like ?, ?, ? and ?, the resulting .ps file displays martian
characters instead.
'printenv' shows me

paper size in postscript driver
I have a non-PS printer setup to print under linux using ghostscript as a
filter. This printer has two paper trays, one has letter paper, the other
tabloid size paper. If I print from a program that uses a PPD file to
configure the printer, like StarOffice or The Gimp, I can select the paper
size from a nifty list. If I select letter size, the printer print with
paper from the letter tray. If

xfig device
Hi, I am VERY interested in getting the xfig driver so that I can edit
graphical output from R. Searching through the mail archives and reading
documentation isn't helping. Is there or isn't there a working driver for
this purpose. How can I get it? I tried looking at the development version
of the tarballs, but I didn't find anything that looked promising in there.
Also, does

evince not showing "greek" and "math" in *.pdf plots
Hi Martin and Tim,
I also have this bug. Though I think not necessarily with all the same
fonts as Martin.
Using Martin's code:

Fedora 39, Evince 45.0
It's a bug with Evince. I think. I think it's substituting in a font
set that doesn't have all the required symbols. I think it should be
possible to install the required fonts, but I haven't

evince not showing "greek" and "math" in *.pdf plots
Martin, I wouldn't rule out an R issue yet. Fonts are... tricky. So I'm
cc'ing Paul Murrell here.
I tried several viewers here and I see the following: Chrome, Firefox and
Libreoffice Draw show the symbols; however, evince, okular and xournal++
agree on **not** showing the symbols. **If** there is a bug, the bug would
be in fontconfig, because these ones AFAIK properly delegate on

evince not showing "greek" and "math" in *.pdf plots
HI I?aki,?
That's interesting.?
I may be wrong but I think it's the Symbol font that's got the
substitution bug, not Helvetica.?
? fc-match "Symbol"
StandardSymbolsPS.t1: "Standard Symbols PS" "Regular"
Is what I get, but then in the Evince properties it's telling me that
it's substituting Symbol with "Noto Sans Regular", despite the
