Migrating From CentOS-6 To CentOS-7
I've a system that has been running CentOS 6 64-bit for almost 4-years and I want to start the move to CentOS 7 64-bit. I run software RAID-1 with LVM everywhere except /boot which is a standard partition RAID-1.? There are 2 areas that concern me greatly about this migration: 1.? How do I duplicate my current grub configuration file that supports a failure of /dev/sda to grub2? 2.? How

I've got a WD My Passport Ultra 1TB (USB) plugged into my router and I have 4 Windows machines, all running Windows 7, and all 4 machines can see the device as drive 'Y'. I use this device several ways, i.e. all my Windows machines use the same Firefox bookmarks and cookies I've got 5 machines running CentOS 6 x86_64 and I'd like to know what do I have to do for them to

I read somewhere that the PCIe issue is indicative of some other hardware (PCIe SSD; etc) not working correctly. Also, the 4.10 kernel is not the kernel out of the box. In a environment with 10 or more servers do you really want a custom kernel? How do you maintain all of these custom kernels (i.e. is a different kernel required for a HP Gen 8 server different than a HP Gen 9 server?)?

CentOS 8 Coming When???
And the answer is same as the last X times this has been asked. When it's ready. However, they do have a page up so you can track said 'readiness'. It may lends some info. https://wiki.centos.org/About/Building_8 On Fri, Jun 7, 2019 at 3:57 PM Eugene Poole <etpoole60 at comcast.net> wrote: > The subject says it all. > > -- > Eugene Poole > Woodstock, Georgia

CentOS 8 Coming When???
It's also a good time to remind people that CentOS is free-as-in-beer. The people building it are often doing a thankless job, yet just the same, one that improves the lives of countless users. Getting upset that people, who are doing something to give away for free, are taking too much time is not motivating or appreciative. Lets be patient and let the developers do their work. It will come

CentOS 6 and 389 Directory Server
I'm not sure it this is the correct location to ask these questions, but ... In the past when I worked for a living the place where I worked had thousands of RHEL Linux servers on various hardware, but the access was controlled by Windows Active Directory and a third party piece of software that was the middle-man between the 2. Now that I no longer work I'm trying to build a CentOS

Kernel 4.12 and nVidia Driver
I tried to move to the latest stable kernel (4.12) so I could take advantage of my newest custom system (Intel Core I7 6-core; 64 GB RAM; MSI nVidia graphics card; 2 - 120 GB SSD; 2 - 4TB WD Black) on a UEFI Asrock mother board. I've had the machine for 3-months but I couldn't get it to work until I found out that the Nouveau driver was causing me all the 'hardware' issues. I

grub To grub2 Migration
I'm trying to move to CentOS 7.? One of my concerns is how to make the changes to grub that supports booting from either of the disk partitions that make up /dev/md0 (/dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1) or whatever it would be under CentOS 7. Is there some document or tutorial available on making the move from CentOS 6 to CentOS 7? -- Eugene Poole Woodstock, Georgia

Unknown Error
I've a HP 8000 Elite SFF machine with Intel Core 2 Duo Quad and 16 GB RAM. I wanted to create a LAB environment to try new things (like CentOS 7). I installed CentOS 6.10 64-bit with no problems and everything is running fine. I then went to Server World and followed the instructions to install Desktop and Virtualization. The install went fine but I had errors when I attempted to build

Trying To Move From CentOS 6.10 To CentOS 7.5
I have this machine running CentOS 6.10 x86_64 and it's ripe to be moved to CentOS 7.5. I mounted the DVD and rebooted and went through the graphic install until I reached the point of allocating the disks. It showed no available disk drives. There are 6 disk drives on this machine: 4 - 1 TB and 2 - 2 TB all WD Black - they have been made up with /dev/sda1 (1024 MB) and /dev/sdd1 (1024

CentOS Digest, Vol 173, Issue 7
I'm in the process of upgrading to CentOS 7 on 22 machines.? If CentOS 8 becomes available in say 6 weeks, I'll stop and wait for it.? It's difficult upgrading the OS, DNS, and 389-DS and Oracle 12c - that's why I ask. Install Questions
This is my situation: I've a AMD Phenom II X6 1055T machine with 2 - ISA DVD drives and 6 - SATA Drives.? The drives are (I assume by the BIOS) assigned /dev/ sda through /dev/sdf. In order to do a specific definition easily I use CentOS 6 (what disks are used with RAID-1 and which ones are used with RAID-10) and what the /dev/mdx names to use. What I don't understand is why when I
