Robust or Sandwich estimates in lmer2
Dear R-Users:
I am trying to find the robust (or sandwich) estimates of the standard error of fixed effects parameter estimates using the package "lmer2". In model-1, I used "robust=TRUE" on the other, in model-2, I used "robust=FALSE". Both models giving me the same estimates. So my question is, does the robust option works in lmer2 to get the robust estimates of

Thanks

One account can access samba, another can't.
My wife and I each have our own workstation dual-booting WinXP and
Gentoo Linux. We also have a third which runs Gentoo all the time. I
wanted to set up samba on the third box and provide some extra storage
space for both our Windows installs. It worked for a few days, then all
of a sudden it stopped letting my account (michael) in while still
letting my wife's account (amy) use the share.

Mi script R es muy lento
Hola Carlos,
bueno la verdad es que mi pregunta era algo general, cuando no has usado
data.table no parece muy intuitivo pasar de la forma de programar a la que
estás más acostumbrado (bucles, notación matricial...) a esa otra. Aun no
tengo un cálculo complejo concreto pero lo tendré que hacer... solo quería
saber si se puede, y parece que sí, asi que será cuestión de empaparse un

Password Chat/Sync problems with 3.0.23
Hi,
Following an upgrade to 3.0.23, it appears that my UNIX password
sync/chat is no longer working (although I can't confirm it wasn't
broken in 3.0.21, it was working before). The XP clients throw up a "no
permission to change password" error when the users attempt to renew
passwords. I've carefully checked my password chat script and it
appears to be OK. The logs

Hi Rowland,
I appreciate the the help! You did exactly what I
ask for, which was to let it rip.
I will have to read over slowly several times. Be nice
to disable winbind too.

How to get p-values, seperate vectors of regression coefficients and their s.e. from the "yags" output?
Hello R-users:
I am using "yags" for fitting GEE which is giving me the same result as "Proc GENMOD". Now I have couple of questions related to yags output. (By the way, someone told me to run the geeglm for the same analysis and I did run but did not get the same result as of genmod and don't know how to correct the geeglm codes so that all three will be same!)

Reference Documentation Server
Hi,
I'm trying to get samba (v3.0.23d) going on an embedded system. Our initial
requirement is to get a very simple windows share operational. No security
required, read only anonymous access. With this in mind we followed the
guidelines as per the samba documentation:

Samba (smbd) crashes with a

live audio feed via telephone link
I'm looking into costs and feasibility of moving a live feed from a FM radio
station from the station to a point that's past the usable range of their radio
signal. It's a rural location and Internet service is not available at the
station. If the destination was closer or their transmitter was more powerful,
I could avoid this step and just plug in a radio, but....
My best idea so

Why does a W2K (pro) client do more than it is asked to do?
Desperate to find out why connecting to a samba
share(on an AIX server) from W2K is so slow, I tried
connecting to the same share from a Linux box, using
smbclient:
smbclient \\\\aixserver\\sharedir$ -U lynn
The results were amazing. The connection was so MUCH
FASTER then connecting from a W2K (pro) workstation:
\\aixserver\sharedir$ (in the Start|Run edit box)

Connection delay
Hi
Can anyone help
I am using Samba 2.2.2 on Sco Unix 5.06
The problem is that we have been using 1.9 for a long time to provide 2
networked drives for clients to use without any problems.
Now that we have moved to 2.2.2 to make use of latest facilities ( not
least allow W2000 clients) we get a problem that when the client boots
their machine up any shares that are set to reconnect at login are

Very slow initial opening MS-Word and MS-Excel files from Samba
The first time a Word or Excel file is opened, i.e., when either Word or
Excel have not been actively running "recently" (like, say for several
minutes or more), the time it takes to start the application and load
the file seem inordinately long.
Once the first evolution is complete, files open more-or-less instantly
if I close the first document but leave either app running (but
