bluray recorder
Hello :-)
I have just bought a Pioneer 15x BluRay recorder. I saw something like
below in the dmesg, I cannot access video with VLC, should I worry
about that? I guess recording files can be done just as for DVD with
growisofs? :-)

RFC: New dependency on FFmpeg?
I have a working implementation of the new xaudio2 API in my tree.
Microsoft is treating it as a replacement for dsound[1], and as a
result, this new API is used by lots of recent games; see Bug
26808[2] for some examples.
Most games that use the xaudio2 API use a version of Microsoft's WMA
codec. Wine doesn't currently have the ability to decode this audio
for playback. In order for the

This is a little hack for sending -live encoded- WebM streams to Icecast
from STDIN.
An example (I was using libav from git, params likely different between
libav, ffmpeg etc programs)
avconv -v debug -f video4linux2 -s 320x240 -r 10 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec
libvpx -threads 2 -vb 128k -r 10 -f webm pipe:1 | krad_pipe2

Data loss (corruption with rsync)
Hello,
I just rsync'd my 1TB partitions formated with jfs filesystem
containing ~720GB data. I saw -3G difference between source and
destination which made me suspect possible dataloss. Also I had
experienced loss of integrity on my previous copies but I did not find
the cause until now.
As command line I used following:
sh-3.2# rsync --verbose --sparse --append-verify --fuzzy --progress

Media formats
Is CentOS held to the same philosophy as Fedora by NOT including apps
to play formats such mp3 etc.
If this is the case, how easy is it (looking for a how-to url) to add
things such as gstream-bad to a Cent install.

Best regards,
Chris

David,
Does this work with already-existing WebM files, as in, does it parse
them to only output at the appropriate rate? Or, is this meant only for
realtime sources that are already appropriately rate-limited by their
nature?

new laptop: DVD or Blu-ray
I bought a BluRay for my Thinkpad and my Desktop.
Very rarely use them, but on occassion I do.
When I use them, I use them to rip movies via MakeMKV but honestly that
is the only BluRay use they ever get. And mostly the desktop, the laptop
doesn't have the memory to encode hi def in reasonable amount of time.
Unless you want to rip movies, which may violate certain laws in certain

C6 firefox esr h.264 support on youtube
I was able to get h.264 support on www.youtube.com/html5 on fedora 21 by
installing
gstreamer1-libav
but that package does not exist in C6 (or it's popular third party repos)
What is the name of the package which adds h.264 to firefox on
youtube/html5 in C6?

playing DVDs on C7
Hi all!
I'm trying to finish setting up my newly upgraded C7 system.
It's on the same hardware I ran C6 on for several years. on C6 I had no
trouble playing DVDs (after installing tons of packages and libdvdcss).
Well, on C7, I've got totem (videos) and all its plugins I can find
via yum, VLC (from nux) all the gstreamer and gstreamer1 packages I
can find, everything with
