I had Compaq quite some time ago (the last was bought out by HP shortly after I got my laptop), and I have seen a bunch of HP laptops people in our Department got themselves. Hi yeah, it's just a normal USB dongle, and it's supported by the Linux Kernel, that's why I tried it. I have tried other USB dongles with Linux before and failed. This one was plug and play. I've got a HP Envy laptop and I'm fairly happy with it. The internal WiFi doesn't work with Centos but a ?5 WiFi dongle sorted that. Oddly, it still stops working once the battery drops below 50% ish. Mine is dual boot with Win8 which is pants. The biggest problem is that whenever I do much with the config, e.g. when I re-installed centos, the boot loader doesn't sort properly

Problems with 4.04-pre14
Hello. I've been testing pxelinux.0 (4.04-pre14) on some laptops: - HP EliteBook 6930P with BIOS F.18. - HP EliteBook 8440P with BIOS F.06. - Dell Latitude E4310 with BIOS A06. When booting pxelinux.0, the machines first display some random letters in different colors and then reboot. We've been using 4.02 for some time without problems. I've tested 4.03 too and it seems to work.

DKMS and new(er) Nvidia-drivers
I got the DKMS-system working and now have the Nvidia-drivers v173.08 installed (using rpmforge as suggested previously). Unfortunately this particular driver version gives me screen artifacts so as to make the screen more or less unreadable. Nvidia's proprietary drivers are now up to v180.44 and this version is fine with my test system. I really like the DKMS-system, as it enables me

CentOS on new Thinkpads
Is anyone running CentOS on a newish Thinkpad? I have been using Linux as my primary workstation since about 97 and it seems like using Linux as a desktop has slipped over the years. After the Gnome desktop dumb-down, I have been nursing CentOS 6.8 on a 5 yo Toshiba. So I was hoping that someone has some recent real-world experience with new Thinkpads. So is anyone running a new Thinkpad? What
