C6 or C7 for an old netbook
I've got an old HP Netbook, which is just fine for taking with when I'm travelling, to check email and news. I have a very old Ubuntu netbook-remix on it, and it really, *really* needs to be updated to something current. I, of course, would prefer CentOS.... The question is: I see that *if* the specs I just looked up (I'm at work, not home, where I could just turn it on, but they

Related to the new laptop question: CentOS on a netbook?
I've got a netbook, circe 2009. When I got it, not that I was wild about ubuntu, but there was specifically an ubuntu netbook remix. Well, it's a few years later - has anyone put CentOS (6, preferably) on a netbook, and were there any problems? mark

Centos7 Raspberry Pi 2 Login
Folks I'm not sure this is the right mailing list for the Centos7 port to Raspberry Pi. On the chance that this is the right place... I just booted the Centos Linux 7 for Raspbery Pi 2, but have no idea what the built-in accounts or passwords are. I've tried user: pi password: raspberry and user: root password: password to no avail. Does anyone know? Is there a HOW-TO

[OT] What file can I use to change Ubuntu 9.10 display characteristics?
This question is vaguely related to R in that I have managed to wedge the netbook computer that I use for demonstrations of R and I would like to know how to un-wedge it so I can continue to give lectures about R. I have an ASUS eee PC running the netbook-remix version of Ubuntu 9.10. The X server in 9.10 is a little different from earlier versions in that it does not require an explicit

Pi 2 Alternatives
We have a requirement for a new application that will be used fixed, portable, and mobile.? The hardware requirements drive the need for networking as well as some general purpose and special purpose interfaces.? The software requirements are quite simple in comparison to many of our much larger systems with similar hardware requirements.? We are not significantly restricted in choice of storage

Everquest
I'm trying to get regular EQ to work, but it keeps crashing. It'll patch fine. The graphics get all weird at the character select screen. Like my guy will be invisible, but his weapon is there. Try to load after that and it seems to get all the way then crashes before the world shows. I'm on a Lenovo S10-2 netbook with the Ubuntu netbook remix 10.04. I know for sure that the

RasPi 3.x and RH-based Distro (Slightly OT)
With the release of the Rasberry Pi 3.x, I think we have a platform I could jump on board with. Performance has just been lacking until now! But I really don't want to jump the "RH ship" - I'd rather stick with an environment I am comfortable in. Can anybody comment here on the best way to run RHEL/Fedora/CentOS on a RasPi, or if there's even a useful port? Thanks

R CMD INSTALL cannot find libf77blas
I feel like Marlon Brando in "On the Waterfront" where he's told "It's not your night, kid", except for me it has been the last two months trying to debug memory problems. Now I can't even install an old version of this package on a netbook running the Ubuntu 10.10 netbook remix because it can't find the libraries libf77blas and libatlas. I have even gone to
