Kickstart problem.
I am trying to use kickstart for automated builds from a DVD. Some of
the machines have DVD's drives and some have CDRom drives only. With the
CDRom only machines I would like to plug in an external DVD drive via
USB and use this to kickstart.
The DVD only machines work correctly with a isolinux.cfg as
label test
kernel vmlinuz
append initrd=initrd.img ramdisk_size=8192

DVD writer problem
I have an NEC DVD-RW ND2500A (that's not the label I bought it under,
but that's what it really is.) It's supposed to read/write CDs, DVDs,
DVD+Rs, and DVD-Rs. I'm basically dual booting between XP and CentOS 4.
Following the recipe in "The Linux Cookbook", I tried to copy a DVD using:
dd if=/dev/hdd of=/tmp/diskfile.iso
then
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdd fs=32m

imagemagic / rmagic dmg for OSX?
Is there a pre-built disk image for rmagic on OSX (including image magic and
all the other pre-requisites)? I''ve seen that it comes on the Locomotive
image but I don''t want to replace my entire development environment.
Does anybody have a sense of how reliable it is on OSX? I''ve seen some
fairly negative comments when googling, but that''s not the best way to

hfsplus on C7
I followed the instructions (I thought) for hfsplus on C7.
Installed elrepo
Then installed hfsplus hfsplus-tools and kmod-hfsplus kmod-hfs
rpm -qa | grep hfs clearly shows the items
kmod-hfsplus-0.0-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64
hfsplus-tools-540.1.linux3-4.el7.x86_64
kmod-hfs-0.0-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64
When I do my mount command
mount -t hfsplus -o loop Mac.dmg /mnt/mac
mount: unknown filesystem type

wine-20010305 and serial port access
I'm trying to get the Windows-software for my digital camera to work
in wine under Mandrake 8.0 (kernel 2.4.3).
Installed wine without errors. Had a look at the ~/.wine/config and it
looked ok for me. The part concerning the serial ports:

"Com2" = "/dev/ttyS1"
"Com3" = "/dev/ttyS2"

non-bootable dvd image
Hi all;
I downloaded the centos 4.3 image onto my linux box and used k3b to burn a DVD iso image. It seemed to work fine.
I have an SuSE laptop and I want to setup a CentOS VM via Vmware 5.5
If I insert the dvd and boot the new vm I get 'no operating system found' It seems to be a non-bootable dvd. Is there something additional I need to do when burning the dvd image to make it

Boston Rails work/Meeting Railers
Hey all,
Been working with/excited about Rails since November, when I quit
working for The Man in order to freelance. Have a couple of Rails
projects completed. Having worked with web app dev since 1999, it''s
been a breath of fresh air. Now I''m at a point where I need to meet
more people in person that are excited about Rails, or are interested

with Ghost4Linux and one with FreeDOS which I use for flashing the odd BIOS.
Last week I bought a set of three flashy colored USB keys in a local shop. To
my surprise, none of them seem to be able to boot anything. When I write a
