(C8) root on mdraid
Hello everyone. I'm trying to install CentOS 8 with root and swap partitions on software raid. The plan is: - create md0 raid level 1 with 2 hard drives: /dev/sda and /dev/sdb, using Linux Rscue CD, - install CentOS 8 with Virtual Box on my laptop, - rsync CentOS 8 root partition on /dev/md0p1, - chroot in CentOS 8 root partition, - configure /etc/mdadm.conf, grub.cfg, initramfs, install

I write about R every weekday at http://blog.revolution-computing.com . In case you missed them, here are some articles from last month of particular interest to R users. http://bit.ly/tygLz announced the release of the "foreach" and "iterators" packages on CRAN, for simple scalable parallel programming in R. http://bit.ly/FDS67 linked to Thomas Levin's Joy-Division-esque

error bars in lattice xyplot *with groups*
Hi all, I'm trying to plot error bars in a lattice plot generated with xyplot. Deepayan Sarkar has provided a very useful solution for simple circumstances (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2005-October/081571.html), yet I am having trouble getting it to work when the "groups" setting is enabled in xyplot (i.e. multiple lines). To illustrate this, consider the singer data

Connecting lines across missing data points, xyplot
All, I have data across 5 time points that I am graphing via xyplot, along with error bars. For one of the variables I have missing data for two of the time points. The code below is okay but I can't seem to get the lines to connect across the missing time points. Does anyone now how to rectify this? Cheers, David Afshartous library(lattice) ## the data junk = data.frame( Visit =

I try to fit the model with Y (ordinal outcome), X (4 categorical data), M1-M3 (continuous), and 2 covariates (Age&sex) as a diagram. library(polycor) model.ly <-specify.model() 1: x -> m1, gam11, NA 2: x -> m2, gam12, NA 3: x -> m3, gam13, NA 4: age -> m1, gam14, NA 5: age -> m2, gam15, NA 6: age -> m3, gam16, NA 7: sex -> m1,

use xyplot to plot mean and CI by groups
Dear R users, I am trying to use xyplot to draw group mean and CI. The following is the sample code. But I want: 1. Use different colors and symbols to draw individual points, CI and the lines connect group means from different time points; 2. Add jitters to x axis to allow CIs not be overlapped Could anyone modify the attached code to achieve this? Thanks library(lattice)

Equal confidence interval arrowhead lengths across multiple-paneled lattice plots with free y-scales
Hi. I've got a lattice plot with multiple panels and two groups superimposed on each panel. Each panel has an independently scaled y-axis (scales = list(relation = "free")). I've successfully put up 95%CI error bars using panel.arrows (and some help from the mailing list). My question is whether I can "unscale" the arrowheads so that they appear to have the same

interp.surface() error (PR#7745)
R version: 2.001 OS: Windows XP SP2 When I use the interp.surface() function, on occasion I have encountered the following error message: Error in interp.surface(a, loc) : subscript out of bounds Since it is somewhat dependent on the data set, I cannot say exactly in which cases these occur, but I believe I have found the problem and a solution for it: The scaling calculations in the code,

Error Bars in lattice- barcharts
Hello, I am attempting to write a script that adds error bars to a barchart. I basing my attempt heavily on the following thread: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/06/10/2791.html I can't seem to get around the problem that was discussed in the thread. The following example should illustrate my problem. Sorry about the messy example but I am 1) trying to make it as close as possible

How to do linear regression with errors in x and y?
QUESTION: how should I do a linear regression in which there are errors in x as well as y? SUPPLEMENT: I've seen folks approach this problem by computing eigenvectors of the covariance matrix, and that makes sense to me. But I'm wondering if this has a "pedigree" (i.e. if it makes sense to folks on this list, and if it's something that has been published, so I can refer to

Question about latest CentOS 7 AWS AMI
Hi, I'm seeing some strange behavior when trying to use the latest CentOS 7 AMI from the AWS marketplace. Disabling Firewall/iptables on CentOS 7??
I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but I googled and attempted things for several hours today without success. I have a freshly installed CentOS 7 system that I'd like to disable the firewall and all iptables rules. Basically the equivalent of doing iptables -F In a nutshell I've tried the following commands, in many different ways and orders, but when the system

getting ISO week
Hi all, Is there a simple function already implemented for getting the ISO weeks of a Date object? I couldn't find one, and so wrote my own function to do it, but would appreciate a pointer to the "default" way. If a function is not yet implemented, could the code below be of interest to submit to CRAN? Best Regards, Gustaf --------------------
