Support for AdobeReader on Linux ended more than 4 years ago. It would
be better to use evince, atril or okular.

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4
installation. I have not added any additional virtual machines however.
When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe
rpm (AdobeReader_enu.i386 7.0.8-1) I get the following errors:
error: %pre(AdobeReader_enu-7.0.8-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 255

I can't get Adobe Reader to run stable on Centos7, when trying to edit settings or trying to print, it crashes.
The issue is people need to digitally sign pdf forms. When I open these forms with anything else then Adobereader, I get EM

acroread = resource hog
Any have trouble with acroread taking up massive cpu and memory?
I exited my Firefox browser and the lil bastard was still hogging up
my resources.
Took up 69% of 4GB, and wouldn't let go, until a kill -9 showed'em,
have to do it every time I open a pdf in firefox.
Any use Xpdf or something else?

Options for dpkg when using package type
Hi,
I''m trying to use "package" with "provider" "dpkg" to install packages in
Ubuntu that is not in a repository (or packages that I don''t want to
take from a repository). Typical examples of this are "AdobeReader"
(acroread) and "Opera". The problem with these packages is that they
don''t seem to have a 64 bit version

Anyone seen the Adobe update?
I get an email from security, I see the article on slashdot, and other
places, that Adobe's issued an update to acroread... but yum update
AdobeReader_enu is still telling me there's no update. Has anyone seen it
yet, in the repositories?

evince
We have some small networks with connectivity to the Internet
through firewall routers.? The smallest has one Windows 7
system and three Linux systems including both CentOS 6 and
CentOS 7 machines.? The Windows 7 systems have full Adobe
packages that are updated regularly and are trouble free.
On the Linux systems, evince has been our go to product for
viewing and printing .pdf documents.? This

Acrobat Reader 9 on Centos 4.7
Hello,
Anyone know how to get Acrobat 9 running* on Centos 4.7?
Looks like a libc conflict:
/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread: error while loading shared \
libraries: /apps/Adobe/Reader9_libs/libstdc++.so.6: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker
Thanks
Thomas

Wrong symbol rendering in plots (Ubuntu)
Hi I am having problems with the rendering of scientific symbols (mu and
degree) in my plots. Whenever I use these symbols they are rendered
changed (mu is changed to the proportionality symbol and degree is
changed to something resembling a gamma) in the X-device. If I make a
pdf of the plot and open the file in Evince or Okular symbols are also
rendered wrong, however if I open the file

Lost Acroread and flash plugin
Since the upgrade to AdobeReader_enu-9.1.0-1.i486.rpm and
flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-release.i386.rpm, I have lost these in firefox.
And Adobe Reader is not even on my Gnome Applications panel, I have to
run it from a terminal window.
Perhaps this has been covered, but how do I get these back?

centos 5.4, firefox and adobereader plugin, disabled input fields
Hello,
we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the
adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem
with adobereader-plugin in firefox.
When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in
firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string
or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are also disabled.
But when

gluster permissions problem
Hi,
I'm running a very simple gluster server, as a NFSv4 replacement. I
documented this here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/users at lists.fedoraproject.org/msg40298.html
User home folders are served over this file server.
This worked fine in Fedora 15, but I am experiencing some odd
permissions problems with Adobe Acrobat after upgrading the server to
Fedora 16. I've seen it with some

acoread 9 slow printing
We use acroread on Centos 5 to print 11x17 plates for a printing press on a HP
Laserjet 5100.
acroread 8 (AdobeReader_enu-8.1.2-1.i486.rpm) prints a plate in between 60 and
90 seconds.
acroread 9 (AdbeRdr9.1.0-1_i486linux_enu.rpm) prints the same plate in 10 to 15
minutes.
I've tried this with several different PDF files and it's always the same
result. Hooking the printer up with a

kghostview and xdg-open. Need to fix problem across whole system
In Centos 5.3, a bad problem has surfaced in user land. We want to use
either Evince or Adobe acroread as the pdf view, but the update of
kdegraphics has somehow screwed up these systems so that the odious,
horrible, awful pdf viewer kghostview is used. It is what you get
when you doubleclick on pdf files, it is what programs get when they
try to use xdg-open framework.
This happens even though
