Anonymous connection to Samba PDC?
Hi, is there a way to anonymously connect a Windows client to a Samba PDC? I have some random clients which I currently don't want to add to the domain, but would still like them to have access to one share. For example, I have: [skener] path = /var/spool/scanner/scans browseable = yes writable = yes force user = scanner force group = scanner

Halo Valeri, let's think about what a hpc cluster is for. Second, one should always ask the question where security is to be applied, then one can come to the following decision: - The firewall is placed in front of the cluster. - After you have found a safe base for this, you freeze it. - We have a rsync of centos and epel on the head node. >From here, we can always reinstall a node

Problem establishing interdomain trust
Hello group, I have 2 Samba PCDs w/ LDAP + winbind called FILESERVER and FUNDUS-SRV for the domains PROFICON and FUNDUS, respectively. In PROFICON I created a trust account for FUNDUS using net rpc trustdom add FUNDUS <passwd> -U proficon\\administrator which creates the LDAP entry: dn: uid=FUNDUS$,ou=Computers,dc=office,dc=proficon,dc=sk uid: FUNDUS$ sambaSID:

cant fully capture child output
I cant seem to get the io from a child process of a worker back to my client. There most be something academic I''m missing :/. I looked at examples in Pickaxe and Ruby PLEAC library ... and I believe the following should work: # called from within do_work... def backup(repo) logger.info(''SvnWorker backup repo ''+repo) tmp = [] my_project =

CentOS on new Thinkpads
I've had success on "older" model Lenovos.....(T-410 / T-420 / T-430) but anything beyond those seems to have some issue or another. I was even able to swap the standard drive to an SD (250GB) on a T-430 and it's running g like a champ. A lot of the newer stuff is OK as long as you don't have any boutique drivers for video network or sound. YMMV. On Sep 29, 2016 9:18 PM, John

Sometimes the security that is fixed in a new kernel is inconsequential in your environment; sometimes the external security on your network is such that the attack

Conversation interrupted by fax
Asterisk SVN-trunk-r7353M (will be moving to 1.2.2 this weekend) E1 connected to Sangoma A102 SIP phones (Cisco 7960) I've been making a call from my mobile to the office, when, suddenly the conversation is terminated and replaced by a "fax-type" sound. This has happened to me several times over the past year, so it's not the version of asterisk (we've had cvs trunk and

Sorry, but this statement really urks me in a wrong way. Why do you think a firewall is the ONLY part that needs to be provide security? That's the way I read this statement - that it doesn't matter anywhere else. In

Harddisk gone bad
Hi all, I know this is the EXT3 list, and my problem is with an EXT2 filesys, but I cannot seem to find a more suitable list on this server, and I have seen a lot of knowledge go by on this list and in the archives, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway... Here goes nothing: I am in a terrible problem: My data disk on my Linux server has gone bad, with approx 18 GB of data on it, and I

Creating my own YUM repository
I have already 6 Centos machines here and it is getting strange having to pull down updates to each system. Seems like I should set up one system to pull updates and then all other systems to point to it. How? Plus then I would want to add to this repository. Say that a number of my systems use tomcat which is only available via rpm. I would like to be able to add it to my repository, and

Why is yum not liked by some?
I have seen messages posted on the Fedora oriented forums that imply that "yum" is antiquated. Not being a Linux guru, I do not have the experience to make a thorough evaluation, but so far it has been just great. Todd -- Ariste Software 200 D Street Ext Petaluma, CA 94952 (707) 773-4523

Hai Guy, Yes, it make a backup of your previous version so you can revert if needed. And review your config after your run it, you micht see a these line : restrict > -4 default kod notrap nomodify nopeer noquery mssntp mssntp ( check if you dont see mssntp 2 x, if so, remove 1 of them ) This is because normaly this is run against a "default" ntp.conf And change the variables
