old hardware / minimal netinstall -> CPU fan control
Warning:I'm new to CentOS and have not tested the suggestion below (with Linux). So please research if it sounds like a good idea. It may be worth trying to bypass the issue by installing VMware ESXi and setting up CentOS as a virtual machine. This will give you additional control and backup options for the system. OT: Linux recommendations for old Pentium PC
I've got a very small footprint rack server with a 4TB drive in that I wish to be a Bacula storeage device. However, it's got an old board / processor in it. Can anyone recommend a Dist that would work on it?

Feature request: non-dropping regmatches/strextract
I don't care much for regmatches and haven't tried strextract, but I think replacing the character(0) by NA_character_ is almost always inappropriate if the match information comes from gregexpr. I think strcapture() does a pretty good job of what I think you are trying to do. Perhaps adding an argument to map no match to NA instead of "" would give you just what you wanted.

Centos 6 Airprint using CUPS/Avahi
I've set up another airprint server, but this time I've had to use Centos 6 because of the age of the kit I'm using - an old 1U rack server. I've configured CUPS and also Avahi. I've run airprint-generate.py and copied the .service files to /etc/avahi/services/ Everything looks fine until I try to print from my IPhone. I usually test by trying to print an email. As soon

x86_64 reproducible server PANIC with latest kernel
Our Tyan VX50 server, which is otherwise stable, can be crashed by a specific user who starts a Java application. Relevant facts are: x86_64 CentOS 4.3 fully updated (but otherwise default config) 8 Dual-Core Opteron 870 (2 GHz), giving 16 cores 32 GB memory (running at DDR333) The panic is reproducible within a couple of minutes. I tried the 2.6.9-42 largesmp kernel from J.Baron's website

quota-rewrite patch & userdb quota overriding
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've spent the past couple of hours trying to figure this out by checking the wiki and googling, but haven't come up with anything that works yet. I just installed dovecot 1.0.14 with the quota-rewrite (1.09) patch and i'm trying to get the quota overridden via a passwd-file type userdb. I had 1.0.13 without the new quota style patched

SMP motherboard and temperature monitoring with /dev/io
Hello, I have an SMP motherboard (Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW+) and I'm trying to monitor the temperature of the processor. The chipset for I/O control is Winbond W83627HF. When using any program for monitoring temperatures, I only get the temperature reading for the second processor. How do I get readings for both processors or only the first one ? TIA

Hi Marek Thanks a lot for your rebasing work. Here is my report : - all my games that broke with temporaries patch (they were either completely black or lot of black screen flash every frame) behave badly, but in different ways : * etracer is very slow and often crash in ttm code [1] (I think this is an old bug that just resurrected, no idea why) * foobillard is very slow and still flash a bit *

I couldnt coax it to give me anything via git format-patch <something>, so I got this from qgit: Is there a more correct way to submit this ??
