Interrupting the boot-up process with Alt-d or Escape allowed me to see what appears to be a quite normal string of start, install and mount activity. I installed CentOS 7 from the DVD iso file: CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1503-01.iso Yum update was used (with no update issues) to install and update many packages. I was playing around with btrfs, and did a mkfs.btrfs on one of my partition. Mistakes, it was my data partition (ext3 based). I have not yet mounted the device, but the mkfs.btrfs continued to completion. Is it possible to salvage my ext3 filesystem? Anyway to reverse the effect of mkfs.btrfs? Warren, one slight correction on an other wise nicely written bit of info: The time transmitted from WWV is not Mountain Time. Even though the WWV transmitter farm is located in the Mountain time zone, the signals are transmitted as "Coordinated Universal time", UTC, or 'Zulu' time.
