ssh-agent and rdist
Hi, I'm having a real difficulty here, and I'll keep this very short; ask for needed details. I've got two nearly identically configured RedHat 8 systems, call them A and B. I've generated keys with passphrases on both, added the public key for B to ~/.ssh/authorized_hosts on A and vice versa. On either machine, I can use ssh-agent with no problems. In particular, if I run

Rsync and rdist-like specials
Greetings, We manage a large farm of systems and push changes, patches, new software, etc. out to our clients using kerberized rdist. It's clunky and slow but it's got the magic of specials. Using a special one can tell rdist that if a particular file changes, preform this command. So, if we make a change to httpd.conf, we can tell rsync to bounce httpd. If httpd.conf hasn't change,

openssh-2.3.0p1, Krb5 and rdist
Krb5-authentication and Kerb5-TGT-passing is working well with openssh-2.3.0p1. Question: Is there a solution using rdist -P "/usr/local/bin/ssh" without the need for RhostRSAAuthentication, RSAAuthentication or using the Kerberos r-command set? The objective is to do away with ".rhosts/.shost" and private-key authentication when Kerberos authentication is already in

Simulating rdist?
rsync is great for syncing 2 directory trees, but I want to maintain a master source tree on one machine and copy that to multiple machines. i.e. basically what rdist does The only way I can see of doing this with rsync is to have multiple cron jobs 0 * * * * rsync ... machine1:... 0 * * * * rsync ... machine2:... ...and so on. Is there a more elegant/compact way of doing this? Thanks

puppet way of handling rdist and triggers
We have an existing "management system" of sorts, based on rdist. I''d like to know the best way to migrate it to using puppet. Currently, we have a local binaries tree, rdisted out nightly. We also make use of rdist''s extra capability to trigger scripts when and if named files are updated. I''m not sure what the best method would be, of converting this to

problems using --ignore-existing and filter rules
Greetings everyone, I have a problem which I believe is a collision between the --ignore-existing option and filter rules. It appears to me that regardless of argument order, when I specify the two on a command line, even if a non-existing directory appears in the filter list as a protect rule. But when I change protect rules to exclude rules, the excluded files/directories appear not to be

How to improve this code?
Hi all, I've got some functioning code that I've literally taken hours to write. My 'R' coding is getting better...it used to take days :) I know I've done a poor job of optimizing the code. In addition, I'm missing an important step and don't know where to put it. So, three questions: 1) I'd like the resulting output to be sorted on distance (ascending) and

Dir-merge exclude filter ignored when rsync DEST ends in /.
Hi, I encountered this behavor when switching my excludes from global exclude filter rules to dir-merge rules. If the spezified DEST directory has a trailing dot dir the exclude filter rule "exclude /foobar" inherited from dir-merge is ignored and the file gets deleted. But I'm not quite sure if this behavor is a bug or feature. Test: $ mkdir src $ touch src/object $ echo

k nearest neighbours
I want to 1) Select for each of the n points in a matrix A, those of the m points in B that lay within a given radius. 2) Of those points within the radius, select the k nearest ones. What I now do is 1) Create an n*m matrix C were I put the distances from all the points in B to the points in A and make NA those cells were the distance is larger than the radius. (The points are geographical

Calculating sum of squares deviation between 2 similar matrices
Hi all, I've got clusters and would like to match individual records to each cluster based on a sum of squares deviation. For each cluster and individual, I've got 50 variables to use (measured in the same way). Matrix 1 is individuals and is 25000x50. Matrix 2 is the cluster centroids and is 100x50. The same variables are found in each matrix in the same order. I'd like to

Small Makefile.in Patch
This is a fairly inconsequential patch, but it comes in handy in a few instances. The patch simply splits install-files into "install-files" and "install-sysconf" - taking all of the sysconfdir stuff and putting in its own target which I then added to 'install' and 'install-nokeys'. I then added an install-nosysconf to NOT do that stuff. This helped us

RE: Samba - cups rights problem
Hi, wel, i didn't solve it, i just let my users print multiple times and if they want lots of prints, i print it for them. What you can do, ( i didn't ) is add the Domain users to the printer operators But if 1 users change the printer settings it goes to all users. > I also have people unable to delete each other's jobs while they are >allowed in CUPS. this is correct
