Running a command at startup
On a support forum, I was told that to turn off my board's blue led run:
echo none | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/blue\:heartbeat/trigger
Well, this does not survive a system reboot.? So I was told:
Add the off bit to
??? /etc/rc.local
Add it above "exit 0"
So of course, CentOS is past using rc.local and recommends:
# It is highly advisable to create own systemd services or udev

What are the differences between systemd and non-systemd Linux distros?
Systemd is implemented in all the major distros, if you want to find ones that don't search for non-systemd.

Samba AD firewalld services
Now with firewalld, opening up ports is now 'better' done by opening
services. So what do I need, for starters it seems:
dns, dhcp, dhcpv6, samba, kerberos
Here is the list of services:
RH-Satellite-6 amanda-client bacula bacula-client dhcp dhcpv6
dhcpv6-client dns
ftp high-availability http https imaps ipp ipp-client ipsec kerberos
kpasswd ldap
ldaps libvirt libvirt-tls mdns mountd

Help with systemd
Hi
I am trying to get Greenstone3 http://www.greenstone.org/download to work
with systemd.
So far I have come up with the following which works but feels more like a
hack than a solution.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this better ?
# cat /etc/tmpfiles.d/greenstone3.conf
d /run/greenstone3 0755 gs3 gs3 -
# cat /etc/systemd/system/greenstone3.service
# Systemd unit file for

What are the differences between systemd and non-systemd Linux distros?
Good afternoon from Singapore,
What are the differences between systemd and non-systemd Linux distros?
Is systemd implemented in all the latest Linux distros?
Please advise. Thank you.

OT: systemd Poll
And to add to the issues concerning consistency, what if you have a fail over unit and you're replicating configuration (i.e. NIC), you really prefer that NIC names remain the same. Given the hardware morass underneath all of this, the only safe choice (regardless of whether you use systemd, init scripts, whatever) is to take control and force the association of the name to the MAC address in

Now here's a funny thing, I was searching the samba wiki for 'firewall'
and found there

Systemd, PHP-FPM, and /cgi-bin scripts
CentOS 7 server and Fedora 29 dev workstation, both with PHP 7.2, Apache 2.4,
php-fpm, all updated.
I have a web-based app I've been developing for some time, and recently the
need to upload files of large size EG 1 GB or larger, has come up.
So I wrote a /cgi-bin script that works, takes the input, and even runs the
same application framework as the main application which normally

systemd
Hi List,
I am trying to understand what After= means in a unit file. Does it mean after the specified target is up and operational or
only that the target has been started?
I have something that needs postgres but postgres needs to be operational not just started. Sometimes it can take a bit
for postgres to become operational.
Thanks,
Steve

Samba AD firewalld services
mDNS is not DNS
mDNS (zeroconf/avahi) ( used for .local and .lan reserved tlds ) is an apple thingy..
mDNS udp 5353
DNS tcp/udp 53.
Yes, dns tcp + udp.
If and dns udp package is to large it switches to tcp.
got that from wiets ( the postfix developer )
So i must believe him.. wiets is great.. ( and dutch ) :-))
