logwatch reporting
I just launched a new mailserver that is using dovecot. My previous mailserver used courier-mail. I am expecting better things with this new server, but I was use to some login information in logwatch that I am not seeing now. For example I would get: [IMAPd] Logout stats: ==================== User | Logouts | Downloaded | Mbox Size

problems with .forward
My old Centos 5.5 servers had a /root/.forward to send things like logwatch to this email account. It did not take any special configuration in sendmail for this to work. Now Centos 6.3 is using postfix (as we well know, and generally I am happy for this) and I have set up the /root/.forward as always, but it seems like postfix is ignoring it. I have restarted postfix with no difference in

Centos7 GeoIP support with BIND
In my new Centos7 BIND DNS server, I am seeing messages in logwatch about GeoIP. Something new for me to learn about, and it seems, configure. Checking to see what packages are available I find: GeoIP.armv7hl 1.5.0-11.el7 @centos-base_rbf GeoIP-data.noarch 1.5.0-11.el7 base GeoIP-devel.armv7hl 1.5.0-11.el7 base

CentOS-6 Logwatch 7.3.6 behaviour
After some experimenting I have observed that overriding settings from /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/logwatch.conf in /etc/logwatch/conf/logwatch.conf does not produce consistent results. For example, if I replace the default detail configuration in etc/logwatch/conf/logwatch.conf with: Detail = High It does indeed change the level of detail from the default Low set in

I'd probably just want to copy a working version of /etc/dovecot/ conf files instead of modifying my existing files with sed scripts (or create new ones with cat). new options are left unaltered. I learned this with postfix, to

My turn at building a custom kernel for IPsec BEET mode
Well I am working on building a kernel that will have the IPsec BEET mode patch available from infrahip.hiit.fi. I have some decent help, but really no one there is a seasoned Centos kernel builder (though they work with different FC kernels), and now they are mostly done for the day. I have been following the wiki on building a custom kernel, got my patch in ~/rpmbuild/SOURCES and away with

Custom named logwatch script
Hello, I am using multiple files for logging activities for named daemon. The files are in /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/, for example /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/general.log. I am trying to make logwatch look into them. I have created /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/logfiles/named.conf like this: LogFile = /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/general.log *ExpandRepeats *OnlyHost

vncserver on IPv6
http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise/4.1/ipv6.html IPv6 support in VNC Server E4.1.7/P4.1.2 VNC Server E4.1.7 & P4.1.2 are fully IPv6-aware, but is shipped with IPv6 support disabled by default, for security reasons. IPv6 can be enabled by setting "InTransports=IPv6,IPv4" (the default being IPv4 only), either on the command-line when starting vncserver under Unix Ok.

Roundcubemail problem with Dovecot
I am getting "Connection to storage server failed." in roundcubemail. On doing a google search If find: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=473 Which puts the problem at dovecot. I did get a dovecot update back on 3-5 and that would match to my one roundcube mail user complaining and the delays I am seeing with thunderbird and outlook users. So with my setup, I am trying to

Running a command at startup
On a support forum, I was told that to turn off my board's blue led run: echo none | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/blue\:heartbeat/trigger Well, this does not survive a system reboot.? So I was told: Add the off bit to ??? /etc/rc.local Add it above "exit 0" So of course, CentOS is past using rc.local and recommends: # It is highly advisable to create own systemd services or udev
