Notepad appends ".txt" to file names it looks for
The program I'm using is 4NEC2, a freeware antenna-modelling program.
I'm running wine-0.9.61 on Gentoo Linux on a Dell with Intel Core Duo
cpu.
Let's say I'm working on a design that I call "fubar". 4NEC2 will
create files with names like "fubar.NEC" and "fubar.log". 4NEC uses
Notepad to open the files for viewing. For some reason, my system

How to downgrade gtk2 libs in CentOS 6.8?
Hi all. I'm using a CentOS 6.8 VM to do volunteer builds for an open
source project. I want to build Pale Moon with a gtk2 library older
than 2.24, to allow people with older linuxes to run it. Short summary,
if built against version gtk2-2.24 and/or higher, the binary will use a
function that does not exist in gtk2-2.23 and lower. Net result is that
the program dies with an

1) Not everybody runs Fedora/Redhat/CentOS
2) The builds I'm doing are targetted at distros, like Puppy linux,

I'm running a CentOS 6.5 chroot to build Pale Moon (a Firefox fork)
for older machines running distros like Puppy linux. Before anyone
asks...
* Yes, even though the older machines are using "ancient" glibc, etc,
they do have security patches back-ported, e.g.

Unable to install extras "centos-release-scl" "epel-release"
I have CentOS7 32-bit x86 AltArch in a VM. Following advice I found
on Google, I tried stuff like "sudo yum install centos-release-scl" and
"sudo yum install epel-release". They came back with...
No package centos-release-scl available.
No package epel-release available.
What am I missing?

That's exactly my intention. As I said in my original message...

SCL devtoolset-3 or 4 without eclipse?
Is there a way to install devtoolset packages without the bloat of eclipse?
I just want the new compiler and toolchain, not a big IDE.
BTW devtoolset-3 dependencies are broken in yum with C6
yum install devtoolset-3

current situation with flash plugins?
Is Adobe the only provider of flash plugins?
Is it still a gaping security hole?
Do the answers depend on the browser?

CentOS 7, firefox, and flash
I posted Friday about this oddity. Now I've got more data, and what's
happening is this: if I tell noscript to enable youtube and googlevideo in
one tab, not only does it affect *all* tabs, but also affects another
browser window opened from the first browser window.
Anyone have any clues for a workaround fix?

Wich web browser on CentOS6 ?
Yes David, I'm using a release 32 of Firefox to reach my olds C6100
IDRAC7 interface.
The problem is for latest Firefox versions as they require libgtk-3 not
available in Centos6/RHEL6 distribution.
Today I use a very very bad solution to reach my switch with latest
firmware version from the latest Firefox available in CentOS: I disable
https and use http....
Even if it is on a private

FireFox and Plugins
While doing a browser fingerprinting survey, I was quite surprised to
see I actually have a FireFox plugin installed.
The culprit is
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/librhythmbox-itms-detection-plugin.so
It appears that whoever maintains the rhythmbox RPM has chosen not to
package the browser plugin separately like it probably should be. So if
I have the rhythmbox RPM installed, I have the plugin.

Proper setup for major package removals?
I've installed CentOS in a QEMU VM for some gcc-compiling work. I've
used Gentoo for years, but am a newbie at CentOS. During install, I
selected "development" options, which pulled in more than I really need.
I don't want or need a heavy desktop environment chewing up part of the
4 gigs allocated to the VM, but I will occasionally need a GUI. What
I'd like to do is

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Don't flame me, but I really recommend using Ubuntu on laptops. If you
really want CentOS, you should go with version 7. Many new laptops won't
work well with that either though.
CentOS 6 only works well these days on older hardware or on virtual
machines.

Installing 32-bit CentOS 6 on a new Lenovo System x3650 M5 server?
Is there any known incompatibility with the latest 32-bit (i386) CentOS 6 and the latest Lenovo x3650 M5 servers? I?ve been running i386 CentOS 6.X on 3 year old x3650 M4 servers without any issues. Our development environment has not been ported to 64-bit (x86_64) yet, so we are stuck using i386 for another few months. When I try to boot from the netinstall ISO image I just get a ?Boot Failed?

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Oh, I wouldn't flame you.
Hmm, I didn't think of using a virtual machine. The Lenovo has a NVidia
960MX, so I wonder if it would fully work under a virtual machine.
The reason why I ask is that I do systems adminstration with meteorological
software that requires OpenGL 2.0 and at least 2GB of video ram.
Thank you for your reply, Mike.

Fresh install in Lenovo T420s gets stuck
I did a fresh installation of centos7 on a Lenovo T420s. But after rebooting the machine after the installation process finished I get messages of CPU got stuck for 22sec. This happens after logging in at gdm. I can't do anything - the machine hangs completely. Switching to tty only works before logging in at gdm.
I really don't have an idea.
My other T420 (without "s") works

LOCALBOOT not working on IBM/Lenovo E73 workstation
Dear Developers & Users,
I'm using pxe booting on SLES11 sp3.
My clients are all Lenovo/IBM E73 Workstations with latest bios.
My config is:
LABEL disk
LOCALBOOT 0
unfortunately this is not working. I tried all 5 options to localboot 1,2,3...
as well as chainloading with chain.c32 like described in the wiki:
