No graphics capability on fresh install of R2.11.0 on FreeBSD 8.0
G'day all, I am working on a new FreeBSD 8.0 Server (remotely located), and have installed (now several times) R 2.11.0 but I cannot get any graphic outputs (everything else seems to be happening fine...) During install I have noticed and checked that png, jpeg, cairo etc libraries are available - here is the build output : R is now configured for amd64-portbld-freebsd8.0 Source

Checking the existence of a file
Is there a platform-independent way of checking in R whether a given file exists in the user's filespace? Converting to XTS loses data.frame structure
Hello, I noticed something odd when working with data frames and xts objects. If I read in a CSV file, R creates a nice data.frame. This works well. If I then convert to an XTS object, I see that all the values in the data are now quoted. My data is a mix of numeric and character. This is usually seen when converting a data.frame to a matrix, as R will treat all the data as the same class.

shared XL file problem
We are currently having a problem with a shared XL file on a samba server. There have been no changes to this server in a couple of years and this file has been in use during the whole time. This problem all of a sudden just cropped up about 3 weeks ago. UserA cannot open the file ThisFile.xls. All other users can. If all users connections are dropped from the file and sharing is stopped then

Automounting DFS path published shares under RHEL 5 with Samba?
I'm dealing with a Linux environment with extensive automounting, that also has DFS configurations for the Windows clients of various CIFS systems. I've got CIFS automounting working for various CIFS servers, which definitely has its uses, but I'd *love* to be able to mount the DIFS published paths for the CIFS shares? Basically, if I have shares called \\example1\share1 and

Automounting (hotplug) with HAL on CentOS 5

RedHat 5.5 and automounting with fstab
All, I wanted to pass on experience that I have trying to get GlusterFS to automount on RedHat 5.5. The documentation for /etc/fstab (http://gluster.com/community/documentation/index.php/Mounting_a_GlusterFS_Volume) doesn't quite work. I have two servers 192.168.104.151 and 192.168.104.152. USB Pendrive automounting
My USB Pendrive gets mounted everytime I put it on the USB port (/dev/sda on /media/usbdisk). This behaviour is the desired. Now I want the OS to automaticaly include the mount option iocharset=iso8859-1 everytime it mounts it. Is there a way to tell haldaemon (or other software) do this, instead of hand-editing /etc/fstab ? -- Vilela -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

Automounting Problems (CentOS 4.2 v/s CentOS 4.0)
Hello, Auto-mounting of USB flash-drives and CD-RW (as well as CD-R) was working fine with CentOS 4.0 release for all users. This feature of auto-recognition and mounting is not working with CentOS 4.2 release for any user. I have checked the usual possible points of problems -- fstab, fstab-sync, haldaemon, etc. -- but have found no problems. Any suggestions on other possible work-arounds ?
