About the flash-plugin
Y'all may remember I posted here weeks ago, that flash-plugin was
crashing. There was an update this morning, which I did on my
workstation... and it hasn't crashed all day on either of the two radio
stations who I listen to via streaming media.

Making a smooth transition between sources?
Hello!
I'm setting up an icecast radio station. I'll usually be broadcasting from
this machine, but want to be able to make a smooth transition to an
ezstream instance that I can run on the same server as the radio station.
Unfortunately, my experiments haven't found a way I can make a transition
without knocking off all my clients. :-(
Any idea about best practices on this?

flash and konqueror
I am stuck taking this stupid online training course from work. It just
sits there doing nothing with firefox, so I pulled up konqueror, and tell
it to lie and say it's IE. That works... until it gets to the content,
which some HR moron is *positive* desperately needs to be in flash.
I've gone into konqi's configuration, and told it to scan the correct
directory for plugins, and yet

Webradio directory
Hi guys,
I'm running "Radio Unicorns" for one year now, transmitting live
coverage of one of Germanys best american football teams, the Schw?bisch
Hall Unicorns. Technically, it's a root server running freebsd and the
latest icecast. I had up to several hundred concurrent listeners this
year and had the server tested up to 2000 listeners (had to tweak a few

Of course. But that's not the whole story. Microsoft only
supports MP3 because so many people listen to mp3 radio
stations and files. And before

Centos 6.6 Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket /var/lib/MySQL/MySQL.sock (error 2002)
I cannot say if it ever worked I have inherited the sorting out of our servers at the radio station due to it being run by volunteers and as in all volunteer organisations people come and go I did do some research on the internet and tried various commands in the terminal but kept on getting MySQL does not exist yet when I tried the locate MySQL I did get an output with various directories and

dir.xiph.org stats & metadata not posting
Hi there,
We are currently in the process of migrating our online radio stations to Azuracast, everything is working well except when we attempt to post On Air and Listener stats to your directory, they don't show up. Additionally, the listing can't be found in searches most of the time, but occasionally will come back for a few minutes and then disappear.
I've setup a test station at

What Does Icecast Do
As a national broadcaster, ISDN is definitely NOT
cost effective compared to IP based transport.
It does buy you reliable transport and reasonable delay however.
For us to get to StarGuide and our affiliates, we have
to use ISDN. We spend a lot of money on these lines and have driven
our rate down to 4 cents per minute. But we DO NOT broadcast 24 hours
a day.
I would consider an ADN, Fract T1,

Vorbis usage in internet broadcasts
Hi.
Just for the fun of trying something new, I've compiled a list of
Ogg/Vorbis radio stations on the internet. However, I must say I
didn't get really far. (
http://www.ai.rug.nl/~bneijt/links/oggradiolist.xml )
Does anybody know a good resource/listing of ogg streaming (with
preferably vorbis inside) radio stations?

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi Assorgia,
Thanks for the flash animation. I think Icecast1 might be the solution. I am
just a little bit scared by the message "Note that icecast 1 is deprecated
and unsupported, and may possibly induce nausea in small children, hair loss
in men, and estrogen fluctuations in women" that appears on the download
page. I have a nice blond hair of "Principe Azzuro" that I

streaming from remote fm's
hi,
we would like to set up a streaming server (icecast on debian) as a
collaborative plattform for open radio initiatives. the idea is to
have an "open" streaming server, offering a shared live-stream to
community/clandesite/alternative radio stations on which they can
broadcast their radio programms without having to buy a server and
installing icecast.
the way we (naivly) see

Geoblocking on Icecast stations (radionomy)
Hi,
I stumpled upon Icecast, but I effectively can only play few stations
because somehow most of the stations that I'm interested in use the
radionomy service. After some research I found out that I'm not the
only one and that this company is blocking many countries worldwide:
