Missing Dependency python-yubico
Hey all, I'm trying to install the fedora-packager group so that I can
build Fedora source packages into RPMs that I can install. I'm getting
this error:

CentOS 8 kernel-4.18.0-193 shim issue
Hey All,
Is it safe to allow the 193 series kernel update now? Last time I tried
that my system refused to boot. I had to roll back to the 4.18.0-147
kernel to get my machine to reboot.
Since that happened I've been watching this mail list for
acknowledgement that the problem has been corrected while refusing the
kernel update. I may have missed the announcement that the issue was

Desperate plea for help with printer share
Hey Y'all,
I've been trying for months to get samba to share my printer with my
wife's Win XP machine. I've RTFM, and spent hours on google to no avail.
I can't see the printer from Windows so I can't mount it up. Nothing
appears in the logs. The file shares work just fine.
It looks like I've got Samba 3.6.9 on this machine:
[mlapier at mushroom samba]$ rpm -qa

CentOS 8 CD Ripper
Hey all,
Does anyone know of a CD ripper that will work with CentOS 8? I've
found a great many that will work CentOS 6 and 7 but nothing that will
build for CentOS 8.

CentOS 8 Gstreamer and Mplayer
Hey Y'all,
What replaced Gstreamer and Mplayer in CentOS 8. RPM finder finds both
for CentOS 6 and 7 but not 8. There must be a replacement for them but
I don't know what.
I appear to be having codec issues but, not knowing what's supposed to
handle the jobs that the two programs used to do, I don't know where to
look for a commercial set of codecs compatible with the

scp -rp behavior
Hey all,
I'm trying to copy configuration files from my old CentOS 6.6 32 bit
machine to my new CentOS 6.6 64 bit machine.
On my 32 bit machine:
[mlapier at mushroom ~]$ ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:DB:E5:4E:9F
inet addr:192.168.15.105
When I issue this command on my new 64 bit machine, 192.168.15.101:

Thanks, Mark. Um, how's about from the commandline or how do I get, I guess we're still using X11, windows to load.
Sorry, :<}}}

System Hangs At Anaconda Detecting Hardware
Hey All,
I just assembled a new machine.
Mother Board: Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3
Processor: AMD FX8350
Memory: Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 2x8 GB
Video: BFG Tech Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT
I tried the 6.6 x86_64 netinstall disk.
I tried the 6.6 x86_64 install DVD
Both fail at the same place:

OT: Hardware upgrade help
I would like to upgrade my system to a 64 bit machine. I'd like to find a
bare bones platform to build on. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on
this as it is a home system. I looked on the CentOS sponsor page but only
saw hosting services.
I haven't kept up with hardware in years so I'm dumber than dirt on what's
out there. I would prefer a desktop so I can stack it.

error building apr-util spec file
Peter,
You're missing a -devel package. You should be building this in mock,

These are the packages I have:

EPEL problem
Hi, all.
I'm trying to install the EPEL repo on a fully up to date CentOS 6.4.
I'm using wget to download from my usual source but after I install it
via `sudo rpm -ivh epel-xxxxx` it's not actually there in
`/etc/yum.repos.d`.
Trying to install it again, Yum just tells me it's already installed.
I've no idea where it is installed if it is (which I don't think it is)

need guidance on getting started...again
Hello,
It's been about 15 years since I've enjoyed working in the Unix space, and I
am trying to reintegrate myself. A few things have changed in the
intervening years. I've installed the first Centos6 iso without too much
difficulty, but I am rusty on commands and such. It appears the install
doesn't install mans so would somebody suggest a way to find and install
them. It

OT: Ecommerce hosting
Would appreciate some suggestions for ecommerce hosting. Been using, cough,
cough, godaddy, for about 5 or 6 yrs but in the last year or so, they really
suck. Did the hosting myself for a while prior to going with godaddy but I
don't have time to babysit. Seems godaddy would rather spend millions
advertising during the Super Bowl than put that money to good use.
TIA!!

Sound Stutters and Sputters then dies
Hey Y'all,
Recently my sound has been misbehaving. The issue exists when I play
sound using Rhythmbox, Totem Movie Player, or even Youtube video in
Firefox or Chrome. The sound stutters and drops out. Sounds very
rough. On Youtube the sound will eventually just die and can not be
restarted until the browser is shut down and restarted.
I've had issues related to Repo Forge
