Intel NUC? Any experience
Folks
The price point of Intel's NUC unit makes it attractive to use as a
server that doesn't have significant computational load. In my
environment, a USB connected hard-drive could provide all the storage
needed. I wonder if anyone has had experience with it, and can answer:
1) Does Centos6 and/or Centos7 install from a USB connected optical
drive? or a USB flash drive? I'd

Reviews of the QNAP 451 on newegg aren't very encouraging.
The FreeNAS Mini from iX Systems is a good deal more expensive, but the
ones I've worked with have been reliable and well suited to running ZFS
with good performance.

OT: Replacing Venerable NAS
I have an original-label Infrant (now NetGear) ReadyNAS storage
appliance that's been running for 8+ years. Except for replacing its
power supply, it has not skipped a beat in all this time.
I use it primarily as a backup device (via NFS) for a couple of Linux
machines, (via SMB) for a couple of Windows PC's, and (via ftp) for web
sites at my hosting provider.

[OT] Network Attached Storage
I've been using a HP Microserver for the last couple years as my home
file server, with FreeNAS, and 4x3TB drives.
mine is one of the first generation N40L microservers, which I picked up
on deep discount when they were on clearance. I put 16GB ECC ram in
it, and its been working quite nicely.

Request for new UPS support : Tecnoware ECO LCD 650VA
Hello!
I'm not a very happy owner of "Designed in Italy and manufactured in China"
Tecnoware ECO LCD 650 UPS.
Plan was to use it with FreeNAS 8 on HP Microserver... But this plan gone
bad.
I want to ask you to look at another "Megatec USB" protocol implementation.
This UPS controlled by UPSilon 2000 program (Windows OS). Protocol type
Mega(USB).
Bad things:

OT Strange IP address on home network
Sounds like you have a host with a NIC that's configured for DHCP but
either can't communicate with the DHCP server, or there are no free IPs for
the DHCP server to give it.

Problem with coeftest using Newey West estimator
Hi,
I want to calculate the t- and p-values for a linear model using the Newey West estimator.
I tried this Code and it usually worked just fine:

CentOS on the HP MicroServer
I'm been running two HP MicroServers as home-servers under CentOS-5.6
for 2 months, and have been very happy with their performance.
I'm wondering if there are many other MicroServer/CentOS users around?
I've been surprised when looking at the MicroServer forums
(eg <<http://www.avforums.com/forums/networking-nas/

SAS XPORT Transport Format
A colleague pointed out that the United States Food and Drug

result, this format has been openly documented.
