Reliable way of having both LAN and WIFI on headless box
Once again I am building a headless Centos 7 box that needs to reliably be on both the LAN and WIFI network at all times. Amongst other things it's going to be an AirPrint bridge enabling IPads to print to printers on a different VLAN. I have asked about this before and got a solution working using nmtui to set up both the LAN and WIFI interface, and activate them. However, the WIFI

Airprint to old printer using Centos server
Hi Gary I got this working in a previous role a while ago: http://thirdlineit.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/active-directory-authenticated-airprint.html (ignore the authentication aspects). I also managed to do it recently on my home network using Ubuntu, so the principle still works. Summary: 1. Install CUPS 2. Enable IPP for the printer queues 3. To make the printers visible across

Server turns off unexpectedly
A few weeks back I built a new Centos 7 server from a 4 year old workstation PC, and a brand new HDD. This PC had no prior problems other than it ran Windows 7. Thew new HDD is because I'm planning to also use it as a Bacula storage device. For the moment is purely an AirPrint server, using CUPS and Avahi so is ide 99.9% of the time. My priblem is that twice now it has turned itself off,

You could say the same thing about computers in general: I hate them, they automated many tasks in life and took many jobs out of the market!. Detecting empty office doc containing virus macro
We are receiving LOTS of emails that contain empty XLS or DOC documents with embedded virus macros. These are getting past SPAMASSASSIN, Clamav and Kaspersky. I'm trying to write a filter for EXIM to block these emails but I need to know a good, quick, command-line to detect an empty doc with a macro. Is there anything available that I can use?? I have managed to write a PERL script to

xinetd custom service - perl - remote address
Hi all, I can't believe that I can't find the answer to this one. I have a perl script which is called by xinetd. I want that perl script to be able to detect the remote IP address of the caller. I presumed that it would be an environment variable but I could be wrong. I've found reference to the ENV and PASSENV arguments for xinetd.conf but no examples, and no indication of what

yum install fails - itertoolsmodule.so
Hi Paddy, I was suspecting the same, and from the output below I think you're right. However, I was hoping I could just repair this problem for now, and worry about replacing the HDD later. I need to resume some services that also seem to generate this same error. Gary [root at zeppo services]# ll /usr/lib64/python2.7/lib-dynload/itertoolsmodule.so -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 61976 Sep 15
