The volume control might be controlling the volume on an unused output. Well, I don't think so... there are only two choices there, Headphones and Line Out.

Headphones volume control not working in CentOS 7
Hi all, I hope someone could enlighten me... How could I resolve the fact that the volume controls of all the headphones I try on CentOS 7 are not working, they are OK on CentOS 6 but impossible to make them work on my Thinkpad Laptop with an iPhone headphones or a Marshal Monitor plugged with a jack connector... Those 2 headphones work correctly in CentOS 6... What could I do to get the same

Mate and USB headphones
Logitech H540 headphones were working fine. Suddenly stopped. Sound Preferences says they are disabled but gives no hints on how to enable them, or how they became disabled. Tried rebooting, unplugging them, etc. Anyone know what is going on? This motherboard doesn't have onboard sound, this USB is my only option. And GNOME simply isn't usable for me, I used GNOME for years but

7.3 and USB headphones
Hi all! I wish to give huge thankyous to KB and all the others who worked to get 7.3 out the door. Many thanks! I have some good things and some bad. A good thing is that unlike previous versions, when I plug in my USB headphones they are automatically recognized and I get sound without having to change anything! (which is a huge win from before when I had to mess with settings, sometimes for a

USB audio on Centos-7
I'm using Centos-7 on my PC, with ASUS motherboard. internal audio has always worked fine EXCEPT that I can never get audio input (for recording) to work. I want to feed audio from a phono turntable and from a cassette deck. I use a phono preamp for the turntable, or directly connect the tape deck. but either nothing, or low level with horrible distortion. so, I gave up (after years of

I'm running Mate on my C7 boxen, a desktop and a netbook.\ Mate comes from epel, so it's probably not a CentOS problem, but lemme ask here in case anybody else has seen it: some tools (nm, pavucontrol, and possibly others I haven't noted down) no longer have the correct formatting on screen. there are no backgrounds, i.e., backgrounds that define areas of the screen by shading or

Using Pulse Audio--question
Hi all! This seems to me as if it should be a trivial thing to do, but so far I've wasted a lot of time on it and gotten nowhere: I want to feed audio from a source (ipod, other player) into the audio input on my C7 box via either the phone jack or an external USB sound "card" I have, then I want to play it via the speakers connected to the system. I can find no way to do it with

Hi I've whined about this before, but now I feel the overwhelming urge to whine some more. Forgiveness begged... :) I've spent some very frustrating times trying to get a microphone to work when doing skype calls. According to the various sound tools available on Centos all the various mics I have (built into webcam, analog headset, USB headset)produce sound just fine. but when using

Hyperthreaded CPU and SMP kernel
Hi gang! I'm using Centos 4.4 at work on a HP Proliant DL320 G2, which has a Hypterthreaded Pentium IV CPU. I used to use RHEL WS 2.1 on it, and RH installed and used the SMP kernel. Centos 4.4 did NOT install the SMP kernel. Is there some reason why I should NOT install it myself? I.e., some reason why an SMP kernel shouldn't be used on such a machine? Gracias! -- ---- Fred Smith --
