GUI volume control/mixer in C6??
Just bringing up a Centos-6 (x86_64, FWIW) and I can't find the mixer app... on my C5 box(es), double click on the speaker icon in the top panel and I get a mixer app appears on the screen. My new C6 box doesn't do that. I've installed all the PULSEAUDIO RPMS I can find, but still nothing. what am I missing here? thanks! Fred

Array of strings for select input - how to display it later?
Hi! I''ve prepared simple array in my model (i.e. TYPE = [["very_long_string", "vls"]...]) which i use for select input element in form. If i choose "very_long_string", "vls" is saved to database. How to later read the whole string, not the shorter form? If i make in a view: <%= @object.column %> i get "vls". BTW. Will (or does)

Buttons too big in Firefox for Linux
A while back, after doing a yum update, a new version of Firefox was installed and since then, the contents of my pages don't fit any more because the buttons are now much bigger. I've done some searching and to be honest I've drowned in the results. To make matters worse, most of the results are OLD, referring to IE version 6 and Firefox version 30. This problem is only very

vcredist_x86.exe - "Unable to find a volume for . . ."
I am running wine 1.1.27 on Ubuntu 9.04 amd64. I install wine, making no changes to it. Run "wine vcredist_x86.exe". I eventually come up with the "Unable to find a volume for file extraction. Please verify that you have proper permissions." Code: wine vcredist_x86.exe wine: created the configuration directory '/home/user/.wine' fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No

Increase transmit volume on IAX channels
Is there currently any way to increase the transmit volume on IAX channels? I haven't seen any documentation for this. I'm getting complaints from the people that I call saying it's hard to hear me. I'm currently using GnoPhone on my computer, asterisk 0.7.2, the Mic volume is at 100%, and the Mic Boost is set using KDE's mixer app. Any information will be helpful.

Apple movie trailers on Centos6/Firefox
Hi all! Once again, Apple has messed with their trailers/website such that I can no longer play their trailers on Centos 6 (note that it still works fine on my two Fedora machines, F17 and F19, without any special settings. on Centos, I've long ago found that by setting the user agent to certain values I could make it work, but now that no longer helps. when I try to view a trailer all I get

No sound even without Pulse installed
I prefer to use Pulseaudio, but since apperantly I'm not allowed to do that anymore if I want to hear things out of Wine, I removed it for now. And guess what, it still doesn't work. I have two sound cards, the HDMI one in my graphics card and my regular one hooked up to the speakers, which is why I like Pulse because I can easily send different apps to different cards. Here's my
