C7 and /etc/sysconfig/network
Does Centos 7 use /etc/sysconfig/network or is this replaced by some systemctl set of commands. For example I know to set my host name with: hostnamectl set-hostname nevia.htt-consult.com But I don't know if this is the same as cat <<EOF>/etc/sysconfig/network || exit 1 NETWORKING=yes HOSTNAME=nevia.htt-consult.com EOF

CentOS 5.5: what do /etc/sysconfig/networking and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts exactly ?
Hi, on our cluster we have 5 network interfaces. I was surprised to discover that the ifcfd-* files under /etc/sysconfig/networking and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts were not the same. So I have searched a little bit, but I'm now confused: - the files under /etc/sysconfig/networking come from system-config-network. - the files under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts are read by the

hostname on centos 7.1
Greetings everyone. I have some CentOS 7 VMs running on the system for which I just made the inquiry about the kworker problem, and I was able to institute immediate change of hostname by updating the /etc/hostname file. I have network manager running on the host, as well, and it also has the name populated in this file. When I make the change in /etc/hostname, it takes immediate effect, and

How to set hostname and domainnmae in CentOS 7?
We can permanently set hostname using hostnamectl set-hostname. How can we permanently set *domain name* in CentOS 7? I found an article <http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/239920/how-to-set-the-fully-qualified-hostname-on-centos-7-0> that recommended setting FQDN using hostnamectl. Is that the right way to set hostname and domainname at the same time using *hostnamectl set-hostname*

[PATCH] tools: revert to using /var and /etc/
26470:acaf29203cf9 "tools+stubdom: install under /usr/local by default" moved more stuff under /usr/local than was desirable. In particular SYSCONFIG_DIR (configuration for initscripts) moved to /usr/local/etc/{sysconfig,defaults} while the initscripts themselves (correctly) remained in /etc/init.d. Moving /etc/xen/scripts breaks the udev bakcned rules file. Lastly stuff under /var was

How to auto-start Guests when using 'xl' toolstack? 'old' configs in /etc/xen/auto/ are ignored without xend service active.
I''ve migrated my Dom0 host to Xen 4.2.0 + xl toolstack. With ''xm'' toolstack, configs in /etc/xen/auto are autostarted, assuming xend/xendomains services are started. IIUC, when using xl toolstack, those services are not to be started; and, afaict, the installation process for 4.2 has them disabled by default. Now, the configs in /etc/xen/auto are simply ignored. /etc/sysconfig/iptables on a stock CentOS 5 install
Greetings: i have a pretty stock CentOS 5 machine with ports 80 and 22 exposed, so my /etc/sysconfig/iptables file is pretty standard/straightforward. my question is: how is this config file initially generated? i'd like to re-create it, and add a couple of rules .... so i don't want to lose what's in there already. i see that my /etc/sysconfig/system-config-securitylevel has
