same model, different coefficients
Hello R-help subscribers, I am analyzing a data set using a mixed logit model, and I have recently discovered some curious behavior. I am hoping you all can help. I first ran the following model in December 2012. lmer(Response.binary ~ ItemType.c * Block + (1 | Subject) + (1 | Word), data=lexdec, family="binomial") I then took a break from the data for the holidays. I returned to

Using predict with glmmPQL
I am wondering if anyone knows how to use predict with a glmmPQL model, where you want to predict the response for one factor in the model? Originally I used predict on a GLM (gamma, log link) in the following way: p.1<-predict(model1,data.frame(year=as.factor(xv),nafdiv=as.factor(rep(" 3N",length(xv))), duration=1000, cfv=as.factor(rep(106166,length(xv))),

rsync of STDIN to a file.
Hi, I am hoping that rsync may be able to improve an existing network backup I've got: tar czf - --files-from $FILE_LIST | ssh -i $AUTH -l $USER $HOST "cat > ${DEST}/${SOURCE}_${FILE}.tgz" You can see that this backup uses tar to create a single compressed archive and store it on a remote host using ssh. It occurred to me that it might be possible to use rsync. I'm hoping

How to add System V Filesystem to Centos?
Hi, I am working on a project where I have to move some parts files from an old Unix server. I have tared the files to floppy disc, but I can't mount them. After doing some reasearch I have found that the SCO Unix ver 3.2 uses a System V filesystem I think. From the article that I have read I need to add this filesystem to my kernel to be able to mount and read the floppy discs. Can

More detail discriptions about my problem
Dear Mr Bivand and all the authors, Glad to recieve your letter, and it seems that you catched the very bug this time! First of all, there isn't any file named "graphics.Ex-rout" in direction "tests/Examples/" but there are "graphics.Ex.R" and "graphics.Ex-Rout.fail" files there, the latter of which looks like a good crue of my problem. So I tared

How to force checksum in dry-run
I chose rsync over diff -r because diff -r is a binary comparison and it takes longer than creating a checksum. Isn't that correct? I did not understand this: > Rsync isn't even smart enough to not bother checksumming things that don't even have a comparison file. --checksum seems to work as you say even in --dry-run mode. At least it takes a lot of time, which should be a good

Compiling error
I have successfully gunziped and tared the file Wine-20031118.tar.gz. Whenever I try to compile it, I get to where it is installing "tokensize=ect."( it tries to load a whole lot of different numbers), and then aborts installation. I've tried both ways (as root and as user) with no luck. What am I missing? Thanks for any pointers

Files not shown with Samba 3.0.4 debian backport
Hi, we are using Debian Woody with Samba 3.0.4 backport. The Clients are Windows XP pro. Since we use this version of Samba a problem occurred twice: In a huge directory there are files not shown in the Explorer. The files are there, the rights are ok, if we want to overwrite the file, Windows says that it is there, but it is not shown. An example: Ablaufinformation - EB-Wahl Okt 02.doc (not
