RHEL 7.3 wish-list
CentOS tracks RHEL and there is something I think probably can only be done in a point release but I believe should be done. Update to nss and curl. The problem - the version of curl that ships with CentOS does not support ECC cryptography. A newer version would, but requires manual specification of the ciphers if the TLS/SSL library used (NSS on RHEL/Fedora) does not have the ECC ciphers

Bitcoin for CentOS 7
For those interested I have a working spec file for Bitcoin 0.12.0 https://github.com/AliceWonderMiscreations/bitcoin/blob/master/contrib/rpm/bitcoin.spec I believe the only BuildRequires that isn't in CentOS/EPEL is miniupnpc-devel but that's trivial to build as well. With Bitcoin 0.12.0 the ECC stuff that Red Hat ripped out of OpenSSL doesn't matter anymore. -=- That spec file

Thunderbird in CentOS 7.4
With the current Thunderbird I can not connect to one of my IMAP servers that uses a self-signed cert. Virtually identical IMAP servers that use CA signed certs work I was a bit out of date when I updated to 7.4 and was running Thunderbird 45.6.x and it worked. When I connected from evolution (which I do not like) it worked. When I connected with my laptop still running 45.6.x it works. so

google chrome future / centos 7
Current midori builds in mock, I just tried, but the BuildRequires appear to be wrong because not all the extensions are built resulting in not all extensions found in %files section being there. I'll look at the build log and maybe see if there is a way to make it work and file bug report with fix + EPEL build request if I can get it to work. I know it's not chrome, but it is webkit

Xen stress testing for production
Hi -- I''m just a little nervous about deploying my Xen VMs. Will they perform when in actual production? How stable is Xen, really? So, I thought I would do some stress testing before deploying it. I''d like to test VMs running various services, alone and all together... DNS, HTTP/S, Tomcat, IMAP/SMTPD. Does anyone here have suggestions for load generating software? Or, has

Drupal installation
Does anyone have experience of drupal installation under CentoOS-5.3 with MySQL database preferably accessed through phpMyAdmin. I want to install drupal more or less as an experiment, and I'm looking for a 1- or 2-page document that just lists precisely what steps to take. I've had a quick look at the official installation instructions, and I found them confusing and contradictory. --

Request for edit permission on HowTos/BuildingKernelModules
Hi CentOS Docs team, I am writing to request for updating the wiki page HowTos/BuildingKernelModules[1] Basically, the page need some love for more recent CentOS releases - in CentOS 7 if people use the in-distro /usr/lib/rpm/redhat/kmodtool the following command won't work rpmbuild -bb --target=`uname -m` --define 'kversion 3.10.0-862.el7' testkmod.spec Instead, people should use

samba4.1.2: Allow cryptography algorithms compatible with Windows NT 4.0
Hi all, while fiddling with VmWare View without being able to join windows7 client to samba4 domain, we stumbled on the following article: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1028164 which says, should we run MS Windows 2008R2 AD, we should enable the "Allow cryptography algorithms compatible with Windows NT 4.0"

[OT] Where to buy S/MIME ??
Hi, I'm getting increasingly paranoid. Something I said on a certain social media site several months ago was modified - then reported - then by account was banned until I agreed to delete it. Obviously since what I said was modified I didn't have any issue with deleting it but I want more than just DKIM sigs on my e-mail now. Anyway looking for S/MIME I can use to sign and/or
