DOS line ends on /var/log/boot.log on CentOS 6.7 ?
Hello all --
Recently, I'm seeing DOS line ends, ^M, on my /var/log/boot.log file.
Honestly, I don't check this very often so I can't say exactly when this
occurred. Is this just MY experience or are others seeing this also.
Additionally, boot/log seems very sparse. Is an old issue still in force on
this?

Thunderbird .desktop file is renamed in version 45.2
I was starting my Thunderbird via a script and I thought I would post
that the name of the desktop file has changed to help anyone else who
was running the desktop file from a script.
Old path was:
/usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop
New Path is:
/usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop
Thanks,

influence.measures(stats): hatvalues(model, ...)
Hello:
I am trying to understand the method 'hatvalues(...)', which returns something similar to the diagonals of the plain vanilla hat matrix [X(X'X)^(-1)X'], but not quite.
A Fortran programmer I am not, but tracing through the code it looks like perhaps some sort of correction based on the notion of 'leave-one-out' variance is being applied.

wireframe, axis label-axis separation, xlab rotation
Greetings,
A couple of questions:
1.
I am using wireframe. It prints 3d plots nicely on screen, but when I use a
postscript device the z-axis label merges with the z-axis. Is there any option
to control their separation?
2.
Again, using wireframe, I rotate the whole plot using the screen parameter.
However, the x- and y-axis labels (xlab and ylab) remain horizontal. How could
I rotate them?

Fw: Xen, full virtualization and Virtual Machine Manager ?
I downloaded and ran the live CD from
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/LiveCD which worked fine on a Lenovo,
Intel Core 2CPU 6300@1.86 GHz with 2GB of ram and 80 GB disk space.
The next step was to recreate a working version on this machine, using
full virtualization of some test OS''s, one goal would be Microsoft Server
20xx and being able to view the console of the guest machine.

how to determine what's installed from a repository?
Hello all--
I am trying to determine what I have isntalled from a given repository.
I have seen several references to "yum repo-pkgs" which I think is what
would work for me, but "repo-pkgs" does not seem to be a part of
yum 3.2.29. Is this a yum add on that I could get somewhere?

Wonky Firefox 68.0.1esr upgrade
I just applied a bunch of updates to my CentOS 7 system yesterday, one
of which was a Firefox update to 68.0.1esr.
Now when I bring up sites I would log in to -- my bank, credit cards,
etc., the Password box is wonky and shakes and doesn't display
successive dots? for characters I type, nor does it accept what I type.
My work around currently is to type the password first, then my userid

[LLVMdev] [vmkit] Errors compiling vmkt
Hi Harris,
A question has arisen, what is the difference between VMKit2 and VMKit,
and why, in the first place the new VMKit2 fork was been created?
Thanks for answer :)
Best regards,
Minas

Recommendations for image malware detection?
Hello all --
This is not a CentOS specific question, but I have a feeling some of you
are involved in enterprise malware efforts, so here goes.
Does anyone have recommendations for malware detection that includes
detection in image files? I'm looking for something that could be
integrated into a batch cron process as opposed to a client end download
check.
Thanks.

[LLVMdev] [vmkit] Errors compiling vmkt
Hi Minas,
Basically, you should not have any difference between the two projects
:) (it's not really the case, but we are working on this problem). To
explain (sorry for my long email!), I work for a french research
institution (Inria) and, as we have an Inria research project around
VMKit, I had to create a repository inside my institution (a
researcher has always to make his institution
