Realtek 8111GR on C7
Realtek is "real" good about getting drivers for their chips into the
kernels as soon as possible. They are one of the few vendors that I have
never had a problem with built in support...

motherboard for cents 6.3
Seems like overnight every motherboard that worked with linux has
DROPPED off
the face of the earth.
Every motherboard I looked at is using the realtek 8111 chipset and a
northbridge
that is not supported.
Example: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3, does not work with linux
I tried disabling the onboard NIC and using a PCI-E intel card I always use
and that would not work either. The north or south bridge

Jumbo frames problem with Realtek NICs?
I was trying to do some performance testing between using iSCSI on the
host as a diskfile to a guest vs the VM guest using the iSCSI device
directly.
However, in the process of trying to establish a baseline performance
figure, I started increasing the MTU settings on the PCI-express NICs
with RTL8168B chips.
First bottleneck was discovering the max MTU allowed on these is 7K
instead of 9K but

rtl8169 kernel dump
I installed 5.2 x86_64 on a new hp dv7z laptop using noprobe on the
install line.
After rebooting the rtl8169 causes the kernel to dump.
Is there a parameter I can pass to it (somehow) to avoid the kernel dump???
Thanks,
Jerry

Problem with RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet
Hi guys;
I'm having a problem with a new pc that has an Realtec ethernet device.
Don't know why the driver is not loading and is not detected during
installation process.
I tried to load r8169.ko unsuccessfully. It load but no device is
detected. No dmesg or /var/log/message.
?Any help on how I can configure correctly this ethernet device?
This are the data that I have:

Any experiences with newer WD Red drives?
Might be slightly OT as it isn't necessarily a CentOS related issue.
I've been using WD Reds as mdraid components which worked pretty well
for non-IOPS intensive workloads.
However, the latest C7 server I built, ran into problems with them on
on a Intel C236 board (SuperMicro X11SSH) with tons of "ata bus error
write fpdma queued". Googling on it threw up old suggestions to

Centos Realtek Network driver for Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Greetings,
I am tearing my hair at getting this to work under centos 5.5/Ubuntu 10.04.
Any suggesstions (Repos, RPMs etc)?
My MB Intel embedded NIC blow up after a lightning (Mumbai get _real_
heavy mansoon rains inter alia).
I want this to make work under Centos 5.x (and 6.x subsequently who
DVD I have been downloading with a pithy 128kbps connection).

Ndiswrapper for Realtek 8180L on CentOS 5.0
Hello,
I had installed CentOS 5.0 on my desktop PC having a Realtek 8180L
based PCI wireless card. Since the drivers for this chip are not
available in the kernel, I created RPMs for ndiswrapper-1.43 from the
source code and installed them. I could configure the wireless card
and use it but invariably the system freezes after sometime. No such
thing happens if the wireless card is disabled. In

Centos 5.0 x86-64 install crashes with Realtek 8111B Ethrenet
While installing Centos 5.0 x86-64 on a Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 motherboard
which has Realtek 8111B Ethernet chip - Anaconda crashes.
I select the option to use the Centos online repository for extra
packages - I am asked to enter IP address etc. The drop box to select
the Ethernet interface is blank. If I enter valid IP address and gateway
- anaconda crashes and the system reboots from CD. I

Ethernet collisions with Realtek driver in HVM
Hello,
I just noticed that our HVM guests seem to be showing consistent
collisions on the Realtek ethernet driver. Has anyone else noticed
this?
A typical FreeBSD guest will have # of output collisions almost on par
with # of output packets after a few weeks of "normal" traffic (mainly
doing work through ssh). Xen 3.2.1.

[pxelinux] fix for Realtek PXE implementation
I found (and fixed) a problem with my realtek onboard 8139 controller.
dhcpd server sends filename "pxelinux.0" but realtek requests
"pxelinux.0\377"
(i.e. the octal character 377 is appended), resulting in a file not found
during
the tftpd phase.
I fixed this by adding a mapping to tftpd:
# strip ending garbage from filenames (Realtek PXE bug)
r ^([[:graph:]]*)(.+)$ \1

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and 3c2000T (server) NIC's with Samba? - solved
hi,
Problem seems to be solved. I could kick myself for not
trying the obvious first: updating the drivers for the
Realtek card by downloading the latest from their site:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True
The problem seems to be solved.
thanks for the fast response.

dhclient failure with Realtek 8111E Ethernet on new MSI
One last shot in the dark:
what if you reboot the router in front of the node in question?
Sometimes it was surprised, when managing different mac addresses
on the same adapter.
I might be missing some parts, but did the mobo work before?
Best regards

Is it really a RTL8139?
Or it is possible that it's a RTL8100?
The reason I ask is because while the RTL8100 is supposed to
be MAC compatible with the RTL8139, I'm finding
