Changing gdm background
Anyone know how to do $SUBJECT? I've tried running both gnome-control-
center and dconf as the gdm user, but neither one had any effect.
TIA

Custom user profile for GNOME 3?
Hi,
I wonder where - and eventually how - GNOME 3 stores its user
preferences. I'd like to create a custom user profile, with slightly
different settings than the default ones:
* don't show home folder on ~/Desktop
* don't show Trash
* use custom default wallpaper
* stretch wallpaper instead of zooming
* use different default icon theme
* etc.
Until now I've done this

New Centos 5.3 gnome backgroup
I don't know if I really like this background though it is kind of neat.
Where do I find the app to change this?

Hi Guys,
Our Anaconda Slide rendering environment is near to be functional, so
I'm wondering if you'd like to add new slides and if translators could
take a look at the translations we have now ?
Actually we have two Slide designs to choose from:
1. The common Title, Content slides [1].
2. The common Title, Content slides plus related icon

Odd C7 userspace issue
I've seen this a couple of times, and do not understand what it's trying
to tell me:
journal: unable to create file '/run/user/200236571/dconf/user':
Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.
Now, it exists, and the ownership and permissions seem correct.

Hello. [Resending the message from a subscribed address]
I'm Luca Saiu. I'm part of a small but very motivated team in France,

Can't configure GDM after update to CentOS 7.6
Hi,
It looks like the upgrade to CentOS 7.6 has been unusually disruptive
with the GNOME desktop version bump and a series of moving targets under
the hood. The result is some wreckage at my client's desktop
installations, which I've been busy to repair since yesterday. First
things first.
I have a custom configuration of GDM, which consists mainly of two things.

Severe issues with the latest 6.5 desktop
Ok, here at home, I'm running kde. After the last update, last week, and
reboot (and that was a *real* mess - some issue I'm not sure I've resolved
yet, trying to boot off RAID 1), here's what's started happening:
I run in runlevel 3, and have a startx in my .bash_profile. At some point,
just about every day, suddenly the toolbar on the bottom vanishes, as does my

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Hello,
It seems that with CentOS 7.6 and Gnome 3.28, a clean install of a
Workstation package profile does not build the /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/
directory tree. I have several desktops in operation which we
kickstart built with an older 7.3/4/5 version of CentOS as the base
install media. These all have a dconf directory for gdm, and I assume
a dconf profile directory for gdm as well (though I

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Mr. Pearson,
Thanks for that, I do not have a RH support account. I will put in
the scripting to ensure the directory is there. I can confirm that
after putting it in there manually everything seems to work correctly.
That said, I guess I'm interested in the "design" choice and if there
isn't a more appropriate place to stick this type of config under the

What happens if he sets up a new user? Does the desktop work then?
