Hello Brain, for such new software you go with Centos 7. The older version is more rocket stable, but in case you use such new laptop the newer one is the better / best choice. You need to upgrade the kernel, there is no way out. Centos deliver ?only? 2.6 or 3.10. http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-lt or http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml can fix this. - Totem and multimedia isn?t work fully.

Hi all, I'm looking at buying a Lenovo Y700 Notebook, and wondering if it would work with CentOS 6. Or if anyone has experience with using it under CentOS 6. I assume that the WiFi could be an issue as it uses an Intel 8260 card. I want to make the correct decision. Thank you, Brian Bernard

I've had success on "older" model Lenovos.....(T-410 / T-420 / T-430) but anything beyond those seems to have some issue or another. I was even able to swap the standard drive to an SD (250GB) on a T-430 and it's running g like a champ. Is there any known incompatibility with the latest 32-bit (i386) CentOS 6 and the latest Lenovo x3650 M5 servers? I?ve been running i386 CentOS 6.X on 3 year old x3650 M4 servers without any issues. I did a fresh installation of centos7 on a Lenovo T420s. But after rebooting the machine after the installation process finished I get messages of CPU got stuck for 22sec. This happens after logging in at gdm. I can't do anything - the machine hangs completely. Switching to tty only works before logging in at gdm. I really don't have an idea.
