scim-panel-gtk segfault (2)
Hello,
Here's more info on the problem below:
newer scim packages scim-1.4.6-5.fc8 (fc8) do fix a segfault:
* Fri Nov 17 2006 Shawn Huang <phuang at redhat.com> - 1.4.5-2
- add scim-fix-unload-segfault.patch to fix xim process segfaulting
when already running (#206995)
Could that be the issue?

Centos6 ipsec troubles
Hello,
it looks like the usual way to do ipsec on centos5 won't work anymore on
centos6
I installed ipsec-tools but an interface type IPsec is not recognized by
the kernel
ifup ipsec0
Device does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
I am not planning to use the awful OpenSwan, I Want to sue the Kame
implementation which was working fine on CentOS5
any hints ?
thank you

CentOS6 and netboot
Is there any chance the system-config-netboot* rpms upstream removed from
CentOS6 could be provided in extras? The CentOS5 SRPM builds cleanly under
CentOS6, and upstream's workaround is insufficient as it only covers
diskless clients, not helpful if you need pxeos.

using a previous /home dir
Hi,
how can I use my previous /home partion under a new installation of cent0S5?
Is it something like:
mount it
chown it (so the UIDs match)
fstab it (suggestions here pelase)
Was using fc6 that died in an update (I think XP under vm ware crashed) and
segfaulted on reboot.
Wanted to go to centOS anyway so...
Um, the /home is a mirrored raid device across 2 disks. I can mount it
fine.
Sorry

Hi,all
how to set ''extra'' parameter of xen configuration file?
I found several format in this parameter, such as:

Layer 2 VPN with OpenSSH on CentOS7 not working!
Hi all.
I'm trying to bring an Amazon VM into the LAN by following this guide
[0]. However, it appears that OpenSSH on either RHEL7 or CentOS7 is
broken as it is not creating tap interface but tun interface. I've
tried this on both CentOS5 and CentOS6 and they both work as
advertised! Downgrading the OS is not an option!
CentOS5/6 gives me:

Samba "hijack" the connection?
Dear all,
I have 2 domains: JUPITER.COM (Samba 3.0.23c - Centos5) and WIN.COM (Windows
2000 Adv Srv). I join a windows XP SP1 (MOON), first to Windows domain and
then to Samba's.
The problem is when I join the XP to Samba's and then try to logon to WIN.COM,
the XP is instead logon to Samba, thus the username is not found. The DNS is
not a problem, I set the DNS of the XP to

Issues with stat() call on CentOS5 vs CentOS4
Dear CentOS,
I have recently upgraded several servers from CentOS4 to CentOS5 and I am
noticing a strange change to the stat() call. I have written a very
small program to test and show the behavior. I am calling stat()
against a file which is exported from my NAS and mounted with 32k
read/write sizes.
[dougalb at centos4 tmp]$ cat my_stat.c
#include <unistd.h>
#include <stdio.h>

No Centos5 update announcements yet
What about the update announcements for Centos5? There was nothing
posted to centos-announce yet for the updates that have been released
so far for Centos5. Also, the centos-announce mailing list options
page does not know about Centos5 yet.
Best regards,
Bernd.

YumRepo Warning: not using ftp, http[s], or file for repos, skipping - 5 is not a valid release or hasnt been released yet
Hi all
Does anyone know what causes this error?
I have setup a local CentOS repository, with mrepo, and can succesfully use
it for updates & installation of just about anything. Yet, this error comes
up.
Here's my /etc/yum.conf:
# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo

source rpms for fedora
Hello,
I'm running centos5. There's some rpms that exist on fedora that are not
in centos5 in it's repos. I was wondering if it was possible to set up yum
to get only selected packages in source rpm form ou of a fedora repo and
install them on centos? In that way they could be recompiled for centos5.
Thanks.
Dave.

trouble when using IPMARK module
Hello,
I am trying to use iptables together with tc
I need to use IPMARK module of iptables, but I got a strange error after I
run ''iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j IPMARK --addr=dst
--and-mask=0xffff --or-mask=0x1000''
The command is copied from iptables manual itself (of course interface
changed)
I only got " iptables v1.3.5: Unknown arg

CentOS7 changes strike again.
Still in the process of migrating from an old CentOS5 server to a brand
new CentOS7.
After finally getting Virtualbox-5.0 installed and a new Wondoze10 Pro
installed it became time to shift the data from the old server to the new.
The old server is headless and I installed the old WindozeXP into the
Virtualbox4.x via the command line.
To do some of the admin I needed to attach to the windoze

rsync bug with --relative and --delete fixed in CentOS5?
Yohoo!
I'm using rsnapshot-1.3.0-1.el5.rf (from DAG) and rsync-2.6.9-1.el5.rf (from
CentOS5) together.
Rsnapshot now starts every task with the "--relative" switch. Without this
switch it will backup all subsequent folders (like /proc and so on) which
isn't desired. So I can't omit the "--relative".
But there was a bug for rsync prior to 2.6.9 that it won't

CentOS5 and samba
We're trying to migrate RHEL3 and CentOS4 based samba servers over to CentOS5,
but it's a bleeding disaster. We cannot get it to work reliably with any
version of CentOS5, i386 or x86_64, the included 3.0.x version of samba or
3.4.x/3.5.x compiled from source.
The symptoms are: read access is extremely slow, write access seems to work
in principle (e.g. creating a zeros-sized file on

NFS4 idmap question
HTTPD on some of my CentOS5 systems is configured to run as user "nobody".
Also, it needs access to some exported file systems. CentOS5 uses NFS3 so I
changed the ownership of the files on the storage server to "nobody" to
give httpd full permissions.
Now I want to rebuild these systems with CentOS6 and httpd running as user
"apache". The problem is how to give
