Directory and File Perms
I have a directory shared out via Samba for Quickbooks and seem to have some issues with permissions. The directory being shared is a subdirectory in an ext3 partition being mounted with the acl option. It has been setup as follows: chown root:DOMAIN\AD_Group /mnt/Intuit_Data/ chmod 2770 /mnt/Intuit_Data/ And the Samba share config is has: create mask = 0660 directory mask =

restrict shares listings in domain to authenticated users
I'm setting up a samba primary domain controller in Debian woody and the users are logging into the domain fine and can access their shares. I would like to restrict the listings of available shares to only authenticated users of the samba domain. I know this works in a win NT4 domain, how does one do it with samba? This is the listing I get from an nt4 pdc (belongs to a different domain than

Is the machine your configuring permissions on joined to the domain that samba is using? That's the last of my advice/querying ability, since DNS is on a proper server (and I assume pointed to the right address on the client as well) On Apr 21, 2016 11:00 PM, "Stefan Fuhrmann" <stefan at fuhrmann.homedns.org> wrote: > Hallo Luke, > > > okay, I attached the

What authentication method(s) do your users use? On our Internet-facing SFTP server, by default (few exceptions), we accept only pubkey auth and require users to (un)install pubkeys through us. In

We don't see any attachments... Can you post it somewhere, then include a link? As for the SID errors, what are you using for the DNS server? incorrect behavior: hide unreadable option in conjunction with user ACLs
Hi guys, we are using samba 3.0.4 as domain member server (security=ADS) in our Active Directory Domain. In order not to compromise social peace, we use POSIX ACLs in conjunction with the hide unreadable option to hide folders/files from users. I'll show you an example to explain the problem: I'm the user "SCHARRNET+M006U122" (SCHARRNET=domain suffix). I'm connecting to

problem login W2k-sp2 and 4 to samba 3.0.2: profiles
Hi once again Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC, everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one expects the the navigator bar to

Length of attachment filenames
Hi there, I have a beginners question to Dovecot: does it have a restriction on the supported length and character encodings of filenames of attachments? Can filenames be arbitrary large? winbind is loosing domain prefix
Hi, we're using the SerNet-release of samba 3.0.7 running on SLES8. Our samba server is running as domain member server (security=ADS) in our w2k domain. On monday we migrated from 3.0.4 to 3.0.7. Since then winbind is trying to relsolve usernames without the domain-prefex and fails. See below: log.winbindd: ... [2004/09/22 06:54:24, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_user.c:winbindd_getpwnam(159)

Authentication of user through Win2k to Samba PDC failed
I have set up a Samba PDC with LDAP password backend schema. I found the way of connecting win2k workstations to this Samba server by setting the parameter "workgroup" (in smb.conf) to the name of the domain I created previously in Samba/LDAP. Once in win2k workstations, I changed the identification from workgroup members to domain. But when validating, it asked for any user who

Problem with invisible folders by using posix ACLs & the hide unreadable parameter (Samba-3.0.4/Linux)
Hi, we've got a worse problem with our s.3.0.4 file server. The server is configured as a domain member server and is running in security=ADS mode. We use the hide unreadable parameter in conjunction with posix ACLs to ensure, that our users only see those folders, on which they have been authorized. With s.2.2.8a everything worked fine. Yesterday we migrated to s.3.0.4 and have now the

Joining Samba 3.24 to 2003 ADS
I'm hoping someone can give me a clue what I am doing wrong here, Running Debian Etch AMD64, I followed the samba wiki at: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_ <http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_&_Active_Directory#Prerequisites> &_Active_Directory#Prerequisites. I get mostly good results, except when I try to run 'getent passwd' or 'getent group' only

CentOS 6.8 and samba
I have another samba server and upgraded it to samba4. testparm returns clean with the old config (ROLE_DOMAIN_PDC) and starts up fine. smbclient seems to work fine. The next thing now is to try and make it a domain member so it can auth against AD. Thanks, Andrew, I appreciate the pointers.

cifsacl not working
I installed a new Ubuntu 20.4 LTS system (smbd 4.11.6) . Initially I tried using the SSSD and 'realm' to join the domain. Everything worked similar to my Centos 7 install and I thought I was finished. The one thing not working is? cifs shares showing the proper id mapping. Based on some online posts, including from Rowland, I got rid of SSSD and configured samba/winbind only. Lots of
