HSM
I think there may be some confusion here. By HSM I was referring to
Hierarchical Storage Management, whereby there are multiple levels of
storage (fast+expensive <-> slow+cheap) and files migrate up or down.
Originally it was used to keep data on tape with the metadata residing
on disk though it has been expanded to allow a SAS/SATA hierarchy. Quite
where PKI comes in I'm not sure,

HSM
Hmm, don't you just love changing terminology! I've been using HSM
systems at work since '99. BTW, DMAPI is the Data Management API which
was a common(ish) extension used by amongst others SGI and IBM.
Back to lvmcache. It looks interesting. I'd earlier dismissed LVM
since it is block orientated, not file orientated. Probably because my
mental image is of files migrating to

Certificate system
Hi all,
Can anybody inform me wether the "RedHat Certificate System" or
actually a CentOS equivalent is available for CentOS.
Just skimmed on a download site through the RPM's for 5.3 and I couldn't
find it.
According to their pressrelease, it the code should be gpl, allthough I
can't find any rpm for RH, FC or Centos.
It seems that this is one of the few CA-packages for

HSM
Purely from interest, is there any current FOSS implementation of HSM?
I note that XFS has dropped support for DMAPI, have other filesystems?

Martin

Dovecot replies with default SSL certificate instead of the vhost's
Hello,
I'm using dovecot v2.0.21.
According to http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SSL/DovecotConfiguration,dovecot 2.x supports different SSL certificate for different virtual hosts by using "local_name" directive, but I can't get it to work.
When testing the certificate using "openssl s_client -connect domain.com:pop3s" I get the default certificate instead of

Suggestions for a plug and play CA certificate manager?
I have played with self-signed end-use PKI certificates for about a decade
now and would really like to set up a proper, albeit private, PKI using
some sort of OFS CA management software. I have looked at OpenCA and found
a few packages on sourceforge but they all seem to fall short of my
desires in one form or another (rpm install, multiple subordinate CAs,

What is a client certificate?
A very ignorant question, sans doute.
I get my certificates from cacert.org, to whom I am very grateful.
I follow what I take to be the official procedure,
first creating <server>.key and <server>.csr on my server
and then getting <server>.crt by going to Server Certificate=>New
at the cacert site.
I then place the key certficate *.key in /etc/pki/tls/private/
and what I

[PATCH 0/4] sysprep: add FreeIPA offline unenrollment (RHBZ#1789592)
This patch series adds a new virt-sysprep operation to offline unenroll
a guest from FreeIPA. It does so by removing some configuration files
and certificates.
It requires a change in libguestfs-common before the series is applied.
Pino Toscano (4):
customize: port do_run to run_in_guest_command
sysprep: add a update_system_ca_store side effect

HSM
HSM also stands for "Hardware security module"
Maybe lvmcache would be interesting for you? HSM is more popularly known as
"tiering".
Cheers,
Andrew

IPA Client Install
Hi Folks.
I have installed an ipa server on a linux CentOS release 6.4 (Final). It is using outside DNS. I have https console access authenticating admin user through kerberos, and have migrated information on 80+ users and groups to it from a LDAP server.
Packages related to ipa installed are:
[root ~]# rpm -qa | grep ipa

LDAP login problem for CentOS 6.5
Hi,
We are experiencing a problem to use LDAP user accounts to login into
a CentOS system.
A fresh 6.5 system was installed recently to become a central server.
Both OpenLDAP and 389 Directory Server were installed and configured
(not at the same time) with groups and normal user accounts.
The server was configured to use LDAP authentication (through
authconfig and

samba AD trusted certificate for RADIUS server (MS PKI, for example AD CS)
Hi,
We are running a 3 DC samba AD domain, and use 802.1x authentication for
the win10 workstations to access the wired network.
We are facing the issue where, following windows updates, our windows
clients keep changing back the 802.1x settings to the windows default,
namely: to verify the server identity and do computer authentication only.
The latter is no problem, but the first one
