GCC 4.9 in CentOS 7 ??
The following features of the C++11/C++14 standards are not supported by g++: * std::make_unique function (C++14) * digit separators (C++14) * binary literals (C++14) * generic lambdas (C++14) If you are using the GNU C compiler collection (gcc) then you need at least v4.9.x. configure: error: support for required C++11/C++14 features incomplete Is there by chance a compat package

headless VirtualBox on Centos
Hello listmates, I am wondering if there is a set of scripts/utilities for automatically starting and running headless (no X11) VM's using VirtualBox omn a CentOS 6 server. VNC/RDP access to the VM's would be fine. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Boris.

how many people still use NIS?
Hello listmates, I have discovered a very strange SFTP problem which I can not connect to anything but NIS thus far. See here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/sftp-seems-to-fail-for-nis-accounts-under-openssh-5-x-816020/ http://readlist.com/lists/suse.com/suse-linux-e/38/193419.html Hence the question: is NIS (YP) still in use much anywhere for authentication? Thanks.

Hello listmates, I can't find the 32 bit version of Centos 7. Would it be because I am not looking in the right place or does it not exist at all? Thanks. Boris.

CentOS 6: what's the status?
Hello listmates, So, what's the story with CentOS 6? It is supposed to be out by now, or coming out soon, or so I heard - but yet there seems to be no mention of it at http://centos.org/ . Does anybody know what's up with that? Thanks. Boris.

OpenVPN throughput
Hello listmates, We are working on setting up two private networks linked by a public network which is fast (1 Gbit/s) but potentially insecure. Since the hosts on our two networks need to talk to each other, and do so securely, we have decided to use OpenVPN to connect them, making one gateway a server and the other a client. The connectivity part was easy to establish and worked like a charm.

Perl516 SCL modules
Hi, I'm trying to build several SCL perl516 modules for using assp spamfilter. Some modules have dependencies which spend a lot of errors or can not be build on a x86_64 system. perl-Email-Valid-0.184 for example needs Win32::IPHelper and Win32::TieRegistry. If I build this rpm for standard perl510, the Win32 modules are not required. Why are theses dependencies only for perl516? Can I

finding out the time of the second-to-last reboot
Hello all, I've got a CentOS box that became non-responsive today for some obscure reason and had to be rebooted. Is there a way to find out when it last had to be rebooted before today? uptime gives you no history past the very last reboot, so obviously I need to find some other way to get an answer to my question. Thanks for any and all tips. Boris. -------------- next part --------------

mounting a CentOS 5.5-based NFS partitions from a Mac OS X machine
Hello listmates, Yes, I know - Macs and NFS do not co-exist easily. Still I've got to make this happen somehow. In short - we have two CentOS-based NFS servers. They work fine with a variety of Linux machines but when I try to mount them from a Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6 machine I get nowhere. I.e., the Mac does not complain yet reads nothing over the NFS. Has anybody seen this? Does anybody
