I wouldn't follow the instructions on that link.
Disable iptables? Nah!
The author lumps SELinux and the firewall together.
What is said about DNS is also misleading. DNS is crucial for AD.
Please look at the Samba Wiki instead.

LDAP Examples
I'm struggling with trying to create a unified, ldap-backed for my
home network. I have an existing directory that handles my posix
logins correctly and I'm able to auth smb users against those
accounts, but I'm not able to join any machines to the directory. It
would be profoundly helpful to see a ldif dump of a working
configuration. Surely others have created similar setups at home

help locating how-to guide for centos, postfix, dovecot, clamav and spamassassin
I have tried searching google (found page 1 only in the cache),
howtoforge.com, linuxhelp.net (older postfix document), centos forums,
hughesjr forum and centos irc channel.
I was pointed to linuxhelp.net and at first thought that the howto in
the forums there was it. Unfortunately, I only glanced at the title when
I bookmarked it and when I got back home later that evening and

How to inform all the daemons I have modified the smb.conf file
Hello, everyone
I edit the lp_load() of the samba source that this fuction may modify the smb.conf sometimes. How can I let all the samba daemons know that?
Restarting samba service may cause all link break up.
Thanks!

I was permitted too. But you were faster. :-)
Possibly it's also worth to mention here:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_management_from_windows
I don't have a computer right now and it's difficult/not so comfortable to edit with a mobile.

Unix Attributes in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) tool
I am using a Samba 4.1.16 as an Active Directory domain controller.
After a lot of time complaining to myself that my users' properties
sheet in ADUC did not contain the Unix Attributes tab, it finally
occurred to me that I should look again into Windows 7 >> Control Panel

[Feature-Request] syslinux in linux kernel format
Hi
It would be pretty useful to have syslinux in linux kernel format so it
can be chainloaded easy and directly by other bootloaders such as grub4dos.

Accessing home directories problem (XP Home Edition)
Hi there,
I have my Samba, set up and running. My users are add and should be set up
right. The problem is when I can't access my home directories from Windows XP
Home Edition <http://www.linuxforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=179059#>.
It should give me a login box right? .. but its not. It just gives me the
error message that I don't have access to the folder.

How to use local profiles in samba PDC?
How do you enable local profile creation on machines connected to a samba PDC?
I thought it would be automatic, but it doesn't seem to be. If there
isn't a roving profile, windows complains it can't find your profile
on the server, then instead of creating a local one, it throws up this
message:
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a

CentOS Build
Johnny, or any one to answer.
http://www.linuxhelp.net/forums/How_to_Build_Enterprise_Srpms_t3384.html
As it seems this was done in 2004. Is there an updated version to it?
Also the required pckages needed. I have the info from WBL site and
various scripts from the centos site.
What i am really interested in is the main os rebuild with anaconda
runtime. I'm not after creating a live image.

That alone is meaningless. MDADM with which filesystem?
Zfsonlinux does not work in user space, it is a kernel module. Just try it.

Is ext4 safe for a production server?
I am about to install a new server running CentOS 5.4. The server will
contain pretty critical data that we can't afford to corrupt.
I would like to benefit from the extra speed and features of a ext4
filesystem but I don't have any experience with it.
Is there some member of the list who can enlighten me on whether ext4 is
mature enough to be used on a production server without too

CentOS on HP DL360e with B120i
I am trying to install CentOS5 on a new HP DL360e G8 with B120i disk
controller. It appears that a proprietary HP driver is needed for it.
I found a useful description at http://www.linuxhelp.in/2013/08/Installing-centos-on-HP-Proliant-DL360e-Gen8-with-B120i-controller.html
I have a pair of hard drives to use as a RAID1 mirror.

I'm confused about which UUID to use to identify a software RAID in fstab.
