dhcpd frequent renewals
Rob DNS service for my clients is provided by my gateway server, the same machine as the DHCPD server. I think that's what the "option domain-name-servers" line does. This allows me to provide 192.168 addresses to them when they try to access anything inside the house with a name. If it's not a locally defined name, BIND forwards the request to the internet. I'm not

dhcp lease time hardware in script at dhcpd/Bind/Samba wiki page
There seems to be a slight issue with the instructions at the following wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 The /usr/local/bin/dhcp-dyndns.sh script seems to use a hardwired value for the lease expiry time of 3600 - independent of whatever is configured in dhcpd.conf. With the examples provided, it should work, as the example dhcpd.conf

Question about dhcpd.leases
Hi, I'm running a DHCP server on my local network. I've noticed something that puzzles me. Leases are written to /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, but only - so it seems to me - if the address is not fixed in any way in dhcpd.conf. Here's a few stanzas of my dhcpd.conf : host babasse { hardware ethernet 00:0d:61:ae:6b:8f; fixed-address 192.168.1.1; option

ISC DHCP failover
Anybody have any experience with setting up dhcpd in failover mode between two servers? I set this up on a couple of servers, and it seems to be working, but I don't think it is working "right". It appears both servers are replying to all requests (which for renewals works okay because they both give the same address, but new requests get two different responses). I thought that

DHCPd Config
I've read a number of articles, googled the web for a few months and now attempting at turning my CentOS box into a gateway for the third time. Configured my dhcpd.conf and other related files and all seems to be working, I can have my M$ desktop leasing an ip address and all. The problem is when I want to go out to the internet I keep on getting the Request Timed out error. I'm pretty

working dhcpd.conf with routes
Hello listmates, I am running DHCPD for IPv4 on a Centos 5 machine. I am wondering if anyone has got a functional dhcpd.conf configuration serving static routes to Linux, Mac OS X and Windows clients. I tried a couple of variations of static-routes options - but have yet to create something that would work. Thanks. Boris.

Centos 7 dhcpd failure to allow a 2nd network over same interal nic
Everyone, I am trying to set up a second internal network (192.168.0.0/24) and have not been able to get dhcp to start when I have the following in my dhcpd.conf file : subnet 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { range 192.168.0.110 192.168.0.130; option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0; option broadcast-address 192.168.0.255; option routers 192.168.0.1; option

Centos 7 dhcpd failure to allow a 2nd network over same interal nic
> I have not been able to make any headway resolving this problem; Personally, I don't understand how you expect the DHCP server to decide which scope to use when a new connection appears on the network. DHCP discovery queries are presented from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255, not to a particular network's broadcast address. I'd be interested to see what happens when one of your

samba_dnsupdate options: --use-samba-tool vs. --use-nsupdate, and dhcpd dynamic updates
PRIOR THREAD: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2019-January/220292.html In the  referenced prior thread, I had an issue of samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names causing a dns_tkey_gssnegotiate: TKEY is unacceptable error. Ultimately, the solution kindly provided by Rowland was to insert dns update command = /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --use-samba-tool into the [global] section of
