[SOLVED] Seeking Clarification CentOS 7 as Samba 4 Active Directory Domain Controller
I'm putting the Centos 7 repository Samba 4 packages on hold. Going to work with Samba 4 source with embedded heimdal. I see this suggested often on the samba mailing list. Migrate from sernet-samba to samba4
Hello All, Is it possible to migrate from 4.2.14-SerNet-RedHat-23.el7 to samba-4.4.4-13.el7_3.x86_64 on centOS7? I've got two centos7 servers running sernet versions of samba. Both are AD DC's, with 600 users. If I run yum install samba4, I get a promising error back: Package samba-4.4.4-13.el7_3.x86_64 is obsoleted by 99:sernet-samba-4.2.14-23.el7.x86_64 which is already installed So,

It's definitely a problem with backend ad. I don't know what, but with ad backend I also cannot list rpc rights on the server because it cannot find the user. With rid: no problem. Bug? Am 9. Hi guys, Just installed a CentOS 7 minimal to test samba 4.1.x that's onboard (until now I always used CentOS 6 + SerNet repo and working like a charm). But I'm looking to setup a new server and I wanted to use the CentOS packages to keep things as standard as possible. so I ran yum install samba-dc and it installed samba-common and the other dependecies. now... Hello all, I have a AD DC based on CentOS7 with sernet samba 4.1.14 with rfc2307 and function level 2008_R2. This one works so far and I can manage the AD from a windows client. Now I setup a member server based on CentOS7 with sernet samba 4.1.14 just like the wiki advises with the same smb.conf (realm etc is configured to my needs. I joined the AD and configured nsswitch. wbinfo works so far

Interesting: I rebuild everything. But after setting up the DCs they had the same issue - net rpc rights grant can't connect to server 127.0.0.1. I tried the following global parameters in smb.conf: bind interfaces only = yes interfaces = lo eth0 And like magic it worked! Samba is now bind to127.0.0.1?(lo) and eth0 and net rpc rights grant works. Try this also on a member server. Give it a

Ansible repository shenanigans in EL7
For those not aware ansible has been deprecated in RHEL7 from the extras repository. In the RHEL specific world it's now in an optional "product" (basically an optional subscription) that is part of any RHEL subscription, but it's opt in. As a result ansible is back in the EPEL7 repository for 2.5.0+ , having been removed for ansible 2.4.2 when it got introduced to the RHEL
