MIssing bell
Hi, Earlier I asked how I could arrange a bell tone on my CentOS box. I have pcspkr loaded, I can play music over my boxes but the system beep or bell is missing. Seeveral people commented on gnome issues, but I'm using only text-mode. Whe I go down with the cursor e.g. on the command-line I dont hear anything. Is there a way to switch the bell/beep on??? [CentOS} Does anyone use tcp_wrappers?
Most certainly YES!!! Next to iptables tcp_wrappers is a solid seconde line of defense. The argument that is is no longer developped is rubbish. The package does what is should do, functionality isexactly what it should be and it is bug free. Also it is flexible enough to do other tricks with it like spawning something depending on the ip address the incoming connection is coming from. It is a

Gnome weather applet stranded
Hi, NOAA moved the url on which you can get the data. I use clweather, a little command-line util, I just change the URL in the sourcecode and it worked again. The move happen a couple of weeks ago. The new URL to point the application to is: http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/decoded/ Good luck & 73, Adrian -- Adri P. van Bloois Antonlaan 104 email: adrian at

Relocation of logfiles in logwatch
Hi, I try to teach logwatch that some of my logfiles are relocated. E.g., mail mailog now lives in mail/info and secure has moved too auth/info. I adjusted /etc/logwatch/conf/logfiles/SERVICE.conf accordingly but logwatch does not understand. What is the right way to adapt logwatch to the new reality? New wireless controller
I just installed an Asus PCE-n13 wireless card into one of my CentOS 5.6 systems. It uses the RaLink 2680 chip set and I was able to get the driver loaded using modprobe rt2x00pci.ko. I saw no error and now see that the module is loaded along with mac80211 and other dependencies. Now I need to know how to create the wlan0 device. I can find nothing via Google searches on how to create that

Bridging wireless interface for KVM guests
Hi all, I am trying to configure wlan0 interface to use it with kvm guests. I know that I need to use ebtables statements due to it is not possible to link wlan0 interface with a bridge. Configure wireless USB ethernet
I have a system that does *not* have a graphical desktop installed, nor do I ever plan to. I have its wired ethernet working just peachy. Now I want to configure a USB wireless ethernet and scratching my head. Particularly since I don't use NetworkManager, everything is manually configured. That said, if I enable NM, I see this in /var/log/messages: NetworkManager[26900]: <info>

Need help configuring wireless NIC
Hi everyone! :-) Yesterday I managed to find a driver for my USB wireless dongle, and it is now correctly recognized by the kernel. However, I don't know how to configure it. The system-config-network opens up in text mode and is not very forthcoming (it lists ethernet, ISDN and modem as possibilities for configuring a new device). I don't know how to create an

Compiling latest postfix fails on C8
Hi, I tried to compile the latest version of postfix, runs fine on C6 and C7, on C8 it fails. Complaining about missing ypclnt.h, this should com from glibc-headers. Any suggestions? Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been working fine with previous releases of 6.x. Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network
