Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello,
response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time

Vpn Trouble
I am trying shorewall as my previous post With alisias on eth1 loc and 4
pptp client vpns.
The odd thing is when I enter one of the vpns in interfaces such as vpn1 it
works.
But if I enter the vpn in the hosts file shorewall blocks the vpns.

How to set up an extensible VPN with VirtualBox VMs as nodes
Hello,
We have not so tech-savvy colleagues in different locations around the
world who now use Windows 10 and need access to Linux (Debian 9). Linux
will be provided in form of VirtualBox VMs. We, the technical support
team, need to have access to the guest VMs (via SSH and occasionally as
remote desktop) and to the host (through the guest while VM runs in
bridged mode; via Windows 10 built in

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there!
I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P
I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so
hard as OpenVPN :D
Now: I've got 4 questions:
question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm
also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will
tinc work, or it will do as

GRE over IPSec VPN
Hey guys I''ve been beating my head on this for a few hours. Maybe it is
just a stupid configuration error you can point me at. First here is a
small diagram of what I am trying to configure:
http://6bit.com/img/netdiag.png Currently I only have Shorewall running on
the host on the right of the diagram until I can get this working then I''ll
add it to the other host as well.

Samba 3 can't listen on VPN / tun interfaces?

I have an OpenVPN running on a system with Samba 3.0.9.
However, with this setting (tun2 is my VPN device):
interfaces = tun2, lo
bind interfaces only = Yes
it doesn't bind to tun2, but to ppp0.
What the heck?

IPSec VPNs: to gif or not to gif
I will shortly be replacing a couple of proprietary VPN boxes
with a FreeBSD solution. Section 10.10 of the Handbook has a
detailed description of how to do this.
However I remember a lot of discussion about a year ago about
whether the gif interface was necessary to set up VPNs like
this or whether it was just a convenience, for "getting the
routing right". A number of people said

VPN hardware?
I have a NetGear FV318 living in my DMZ, with one of its LAN-ports
living in my LOC zone. What rules are needed in shorewall to allow a
certain subnet to make connections to this device from the net zone?
Do I define it as a tunnel in shorewall/tunnels, or do I just allow some
selected traffic to the DMZ IP? I am not sure which of the docs are
right for me in this case?
