trying to create a WinNT rescue disk
I have probably a rather unusual problem. I have a computer with WinNT
already installed on it, plus RedHat7.2, and would like to try and
create a repair disk for the WinNT install (I'm no longer able to boot
NT, though I have no problem starting the NT bootloader - after I
choose Windows NT 4.0 and it starts to boot, I get a BSOD with
reference to being unable to access the bootloader (which

Dual-boot and also use raw disk in virtual machine
I've got a new computer with two SATA disks.
I installed a minimal Fedora 13 64-bit on the first disk.
I shut down the computer, unplugged the first disk,
booted up and installed Windows 7 on the second disk.
Then I shut down, and plugged the first disk back in.
I added a grub option to boot Windows from the second disk.
All fine so far - I had a working dual boot system.
Then in F13 using

CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754
Hello,
Ever since I updated my CentOS 6 machine from 6.9 to 6.10 Xorg will not
start with the 2.6.32-754 kernels. Instead the computer will reboot. This
issue does not exist with the 2.6.32-696.30.1 kernel from CentOS 6.9 that I
still have on my system.
Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you rectify it?
Thank you for any help.

CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754
Brian,
There is a kernel bug that seems to affect systems with older Intel processors.? I have a Dell Laptop that on bootup of kernel 2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64 will display a white square in the upper left corner of the screen and halt.? If I roll back to the 2.6.32-696.30.1.el6.x86_64 version kernel all is well.

CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754
Thank you for your reply, Ed.
Do you know if this issue affects CentOS 7.5 and kernels 3.10.0-862?
I'm thinking of upgrading to 7.5 in order to support a meteorological
project I'm working on.

GPLPV BSOD following block-attach
James,
I''m writing with respect to an issue I''ve observed on a long-running,
stable VM with the GPL-PV drivers installed.
Running : 0.11 latest, x86 XP SP3
I used "xm block-attach" to add two disks and (without actually
configuring/accessing them) I had an automatic reboot due to windows
updates. At the same time as the block-attach the domU config was

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Oh, I wouldn't flame you.
Hmm, I didn't think of using a virtual machine. The Lenovo has a NVidia
960MX, so I wonder if it would fully work under a virtual machine.
The reason why I ask is that I do systems adminstration with meteorological
software that requires OpenGL 2.0 and at least 2GB of video ram.
Thank you for your reply, Mike.

dual boot box: winxp & centos 5: impossible to restorewinxp? -- antair restored
Have you disconnected all your usb hardware before trying the repair? I've repaired my box more times than I can count and the only time I've seen lots of hdd activity is when I had some weird hardware attached.

Re: Migrate Win2k3 to KVM
- What format is the image is?
- Can you post an XML file of the VM config?
Changing the driver to VirtIO via registry edits may exacerbate the
problem. I've never done this but wouldn't it make sense to stick to the
more supported IDE drive emulation until you get it booted and thus remove
possible variables of it not booting?
Are you able to boot the image any other way?

How does Linux Repair actually work
Thanks to the help of folks on this forum, I now have my Centos 4
box up and working, however I do have a question on how the
repair actually worked.
After starting the Linux Repair, the process "found my installed
Linux". Some of you will remember that I had accidentally erased
the /boot and /boot/grub directories, but I had most of the files
saved (not the symbolic links) and

wtmp repair - painless
hi,
from reiserfs it`s known to happen quite often - wtmp may be corrupted;
but actually I`m using only ext2/3 on the test machine.
After 7 days running the RH8 system I`ve noticed the first corruption of wtmp.
last shows only the line
wtmp begins Wed Dec 11 09:14:52 2002
and
/usr/sbin/dump-utmp wtmp
spits out the history,
e.g. the last line

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Hello Brain,
for such new software you go with Centos 7. The older version is more rocket stable,
but in case you use such new laptop the newer one is the better / best choice.
You need to upgrade the kernel, there is no way out. Centos deliver ?only?
2.6 or 3.10.
http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-lt or http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml
can fix this.

hole in ext3 filesystem - how to repair?
I'm running debian with an ext3
filesystem in a 2.4.20 kernel on x86.
A disk crash in my RAID array resulted
in some ext3 filesystem corruption which
"e2fsck -y -b 32768 /dev/sda1"
does not repair.
The filesystem mounts okay at first, but
then reverts to read-only with the
follow error in /var/log/messages:
kernel: directory #213122574 contains a
hole at offset 3596288

WoW and Repair Tool
I'm using OpenSUSE 11.1, whenever I try to connect to the Blizzard Downloader or when I open the repair.exe to repair a file (thereby allowing me to get on WoW) it says "cannot connect to the servers to get the information".
Is this a problem with Wine? Or something else?
