Exists some problem with cronjobs under CentOS7
Hi all, I am having strange problems with my cron jobs in my CentOS7 kvm host. After the initial install and first boot, any cron job configured had run (including cron tasks installed by some rpm packages). Last cron's entry log is: Oct 9 17:01:01 santgraal CROND[9014]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) Oct 9 17:01:01 santgraal run-parts(/etc/cron.hourly)[9014]: starting 0anacron

PackageKit via ssh
Hi, I'm trying to use gnome PackageKit (gpk-application) on a centos 6 x86_64 system. When I am sitting at the machine it works ok, but most of the time I am accessing that C6 system via ssh from my centos 5 desktop. In this scenario gpk-application starts ok, lists packages, resolves deps, etc... but then it doesn't pop up the box asking for the root password, and aborts with a

Questions about yum-cron
Hi, Up until now I always kept my servers up-to-date manually. Currently I'm experimenting with yum-cron to automate this process. I read through various online tutorials, and now I have a couple questions. 1. As far as I know, when editing /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf, I can only use the following value for update_cmd : update_cmd = default If I understand this correctly, 'update_cmd =

Did you restart the crontab service after the change ? If not, crontab wont be aware of the changes. Nassri > rado wrote: > > for some reason, crontab is not picking up a job here > listed. "Can't install ... as no transaction" from PackageKit (CentOS 6)
Hello again, Does anyone have any idea what the following message in the package installer - gpk-install-local-file - is supposed to mean? Can't install /tmp/mail-notification-4.0-3.el5.x86_64.rpm as no transaction (Under "More details" in the "Local install failed" popup.) This is something I got while trying to set up a "mail notification" icon - refer to

Cron sending to root after changing MAILTO
Well, I feel silly.? There are three places MAILTO can affect crond: /etc/crontab, /etc/crond.d/0hourly, and /etc/anacrontab.? Once I set this in these 3 files, I started getting mail from crond.? Confusion about scheduling tasks with crontab
Hi, I have to setup a scheduled task on a server, and I just read through some crontab docs. Now I'm confused. It's not so much the syntax of the cron job to define (I got that), it's more... how do I get to define it? Use a text editor (vi or the likes) to edit /etc/crontab directly? Or create some empty file in /etc/cron.daily or /etc/cron.hourly or the likes and then edit it

Strangest thing (crond every 5 min.)
Hi, I've installed CentOS-4 4 days ago. Now, every 5 minutes, crond opens and close a root session, with no other info. Example: Apr 14 16:25:01 tux crond(pam_unix)[4031]: session opened for user root by (uid=0) Apr 14 16:25:02 tux crond(pam_unix)[4031]: session closed for user root Every five minutes the same thing. I have nothing in /etc/crontab that makes such a thing. Does anyone
